Haven't lifted since I tweaked my knee squatting 760 for 6 in April and missed the safety catch causing me to support the weight down to a 90 degree angle with only 1 leg. Any injury to a 56-year-old lifter is a total pain and takes a while to repair. That in combination with retiring from teaching gave me pause to reflect. I needed to focus on what I was going to do following my divorce and retirement and realizing that I wasn't getting any younger either. A dark period for sure, especially because I wasn't lifting. Add to that I had to find a new apartment, so I could move closer to my girls, who are 9 and 14. Well it should be no wonder I took a road trip to Florida and spend many days this summer on the beach. In retrospect I wanted to touch base with who I was before I was married or a teacher; to rekindle the spirit that is mrhtbd. Well, thankfully, I have finally landed. Rented a three bedroom house on three-quarter acre, two and a half miles from my girls, bought a 94 pick up truck, put $3200 into it doing the repairs myself, and started my own contracting business. Needless to say I have rediscovered muscles I've forgotten had existed. Tore a bicep muscle drilling half-inch holes to attach toolboxes to the side of my truck with a half-inch drive drill (took three weeks to heal). Went through a high cramp phase (but now my body has become accustomed to construction work). Been living a quiet life but am ready to get back on that weightlifting wagon. Things are picking up, meeting new people, and life is taking a turn to the new. Haven't been here for two months and thought I'd stop in. Peak-muscle has always been good for me. Just wanted to let you know that I'm always driving to keep the good end up! Just paid my second month's rent, am three quarters the way done with the bathroom rehab, took the girls to a car show two weekends ago (and I have them again this weekend) so life is good again. I'm out of the dark! Thanks for reading!
