This sucker is going to be devastating. They are saying it could reach a Category 6 hurricane. The USA has NEVER seen or had a Category 6 hurricane. Supposedly there is supposed to be 20foot swells of water which is a BIG problem considering that New Orleans is 20feet BELOW sea level.

This could get real ugly. The whole city is on evacuation notice.

LOUISIANA:

- Evacuations: New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin ordered the entire city of 485,000 to evacuate. For those who couldn't, the city opened 10 shelters, including the Superdome, and urged people to bring three- to five-days worth of supplies.

- Nagin estimated that 80 percent of the city's residents had left, leaving about 97,000 still in town.

Didnt a roof of a dome get torn off where people were staying?

Yup, everyone is safe though. It's been downgraded to a category 2, which is still pretty powerful considering how far inland it is.

I'm just fascinated by this storm.

OMG.. this hurricane was something else. They are saying HUNDREDS of people are dead. There was one report that from an arial view there were bodies floating everywhere. New Orleans is 80% under water. Parts of GulfPort are leveled. The devestation is enormous.

This is the time for people to give to the Red Cross. We have several shelters close to my house with lots of evacuees. Many of them won't be able to go back until Monday next week, and on top of that, alot of them won't have a home to go back to.

I'm getting ready to go donate some clothes, & some toys to one of the shelters. If any of you can spare to donate money, clothes, blankets, toys, to the shelters if you're close to one, you really should. You may be the one needing help some day.

This is absoltuely horrible. That pic that was posted was amazing. How sad. My prayers go out to those in need.
