powerlifter.. my first meet never happened yet, was suppposed to this march but two of my partners pulled from it due to injury and i didnt want to drive 2 hours away by myself to compete for the first time -- by myself... body building is gay to me

powerlifting. They ppl you meet in the sport are unmatched. Best group of ppl in the world

im alittle bit of both....
i should really decide what path i want to take

i just enjoy working out and lifting weights.. the amount of weight I lift just helps me to strive more. I dont want people too awww me or be impressed by me, I just wanna impress myself. so i guess im neither, im just an enthusiast

well put bro

I would say the same thing as buff... "powerbuilder" - following the DC training philosophy you have to be concerned with weight progressions, but the goal ultimately is hypertrophy.

Most bodybuilders that I talk with just aren't that concerned about how much weight they are using but by working the muscle. It seems most on here are more into powerlifting. I talk with a lot of bodybuilders they are well known and they just don't go around saying their bench or squat has gone up 50 lbs. I was just curious as how most would consider themselves bodybuilder or powerlifter.

I am both...

im going with powerbuilder. im not concerned with being the strongest, but i wanna be the biggest. adn since i beleive in dantes thoughts that size comes with strength, its kinda both.

i cant wait until the day that i come back to my hometown (a few years from when i leave which is august) and i turn heads. then when i turn the heads on the stage and compete at a level my mother keeps telling me i cant get to, im sending her the pics where i hold the trophy.

well I tried to be a BBer, but my genetics laughed at me......I tried powerlifting and hahaha, I am too weak. So now I am lifting to stay lean, improve my health, and stay in shape to prolong my lifespan

I incorperate both, either in the same day such as an undulating periodization model or in different four week phases. An example of undulating could be an UPPER day starting with 3 x 3-5 reps barbell bench followed by 2 x 8-12 reps incline dumbbells, then moving onto barbell rows or something. Different phases could be 4 weeks at 5 x 5 or 4 x 6 followed by a deload week (recovery), then busting out another 3 weeks of 3 x 3..All this is full body, three times a week. I usually grew like a weed during the intensity 3 x 3 phase. The best duel factor program I grew best with was Bill Starr's 5x5..Near bottom of link.

My muscles respond differently from each other so I prefer an undulating periodization above all else..For me it really depends on the exercises used. For A2G squat, bench, and deadlifts, [big three] I always keep them 3-5 reps heavy as I can focusing on strength gains. The remainder of my routine is when I change focus to high rep hypertrophy.

Progressive loading is a principle of hypertrophy so I always try and increase either the reps or weight..Or else my muscle won't have any reason to grow. I have never responded to slow tempos with lighter weight compared to blasting up the heavy stuff. DC's the new perfect fit.

BTW, most powerlifters I see slinging some heavy iron are monsters. If they went on a cut, there goes the neighborhood! So, why not incorperate both?

For those of you who are powerlifters how do you train. What does ytour training look like.

for those who are bodybuilders what program do you follow to best reach hypertrophy

I use DC training as I beleive it combines PLifting and maximum hypertrophy. On this system I can still do my heavy deads and squats and weighted dips and chins as well as higher rep (RP) stuff.

eh, i dont think DC combines powerlifting... power is speed x strength that is impossible w/ HIT or HIT variations. However , it does work under the priniciple (like any bb routine should) mre strength = more mass.
