Wireless Web?

I'm probably going to end up selling my desktop, and picking up a laptop :). I know you need a wireless card for a laptop to be able to use the Internet, but is that all you need to be able to use it anywhere that has a internet connection? I'm not going to be home to often so I need to be Mobile
 
I would like to have one but they are a little pricey. What kind are you looking at??
 
one of my soldiers has one on his laptop, he pushes a button on it and it searches for a signal and connects. pretty nifty if u ask me
