does venison have the same cholesterol inhibiting effects as beef or other red meats...my little bro has slayed 5 deer already... i got alot of meat...

Who cares? It's range fed and lower in fat. These two things alone should be worth more than any debilitating effect on cholesterol.
BTW, had a venison roast last night with sweet potatoes for dinner, mmm...
Also, never heard that eating beef had cholesterol inhibiting effects,
I thought it actually increased cholesterol because of the saturated fat?

Liftsiron, where are you on this one?

I don't understand why they do not sell venison in stores. I would totally buy some, that stuff is the shit! I need to learn to clean a deer so I can hunt, I sure as hell have the guns and ammo :)

Butchers at small meat markets will clean and cut your deer into steaks, chops, ground venison etc. Not all that expensive for about 100 lbs or more fresh venison ready to be stacked in the freezer. ;)

yep... we get our processed here... all u have to do is cut out the guts when you kill it... leave it for the buzzards...

A study may show higher cholesterol than beef, and I think beef is tastier, but venison is much healthier than beef in the long run. First off, cholesterol you take in from food does NOT greatly increase cholesterol levels in the blood. Venison is much leaner and free of so many steroids hormones and other contaminants, including pesticides. Deer graze mostly away from sprayed lawns, get lots more exercise and are not fed chemically altered food.

So you just leave the entrails out there? I thought you had to throw those away.

I was raised in the suburbs and my training with weapons was from when our government was teaching me to shoot at Ackmed :D I don't know shit about hunting.

The raccoons will eat the guts, hawks, buzzards, etc.
Keeps the food chain moving.
To me the difficulty would be dragging it out.

yea bro... really wouldnt leave the guts where you hunt though.... deer are relatively clever... and they will know its there buddy bob... also, the entrails would attract predators such as coyotes and stuff...deer are not hard to drag out... they are not relatively cumbersome... their weight is mostly torso... and as hotrocks said alot of the weight is guts.... deer hunting is fun... i dont do it as much as i used to... but my little bro is a big time hunter...

That's what most people in my area do. You do need to gut the deer right after you kill it though.

bring me up some back straps if you come back to the arnold this year bro

Just pick up one of these and you'll be fine.

35 cal . Marlin is my choice.
Or the ever famous 12 ga shotgun .
But it really depends on where you hunt .
Here in Florida you usually don't have a long shot so a slow/short cal will be find.
I'd be willing to bet that more deer have been taken with a shotgun that any other type.

I see you got that post ban .
no bayonet .
