If you were going to compete in a physical sport such as wrestling, jiujitsu, boxing what and how much would you eat the day of the competition, so you could have as much energy as possible and experience peak energy levels throughout the match?
Edit: The competition itself is probably going to burn through more calories than cross country skiing while polar bears are chasing your ass.. I would guestimate it around 1000 calories per hour or more.

i have competed regularly in jiu jitsu and submission grappling over the last 5 years and do almost the exact same thing each time.

I focus on the day before meals first making sure to eat clean, no unhealthy sugars, no wild diet changes 6 small meals through out the day. Normally Ive been eating like this throughout my lead up training.

on the day of I try to eat my usual breakfast which would be a bowl of oatmeal and a couple eggs avoid any large meal within 2 hours of my matches. If i get hungry ill slowly eat protein bars through out the day just to keep from feeling hungry and to keep my blood sugar stable.

I will also drink endurox or a similar drink each day the week before the competition and dilute it with water and sip it the day of.

more than you asked, hope it helped

Good answer, it's most important on what you eat the couple days before the tournament.
