At 55 years old I have just beat any previous bench press I have ever done over 27 years of training.
I hit 520lbs this afternoon, and before that 505 for 3 reps at 238lbs body weight.
And I'm an old power lifter so I'm talking clean reps. None of this bouncing off my chest stuff.
The old grey beard's still got it!:eek2:

Very impressive greybeard! Congrats my friend. One of the things I like best about this board is the amount of seasoned experienced vets we have here. Of the mod staff, only 2 or 3 are under 40. Nothing is more aggravationg than arguing with a know-it-all 20 year old! ;)

That is plain and simple some serious ass raw bench at 238lbs. Very nice work bufbiker.

are we never going to hear the end of it like last time buff?? haha

Thats some good bench man, keep it up!

Thats exactly it. Im on too many forums to keep count, but this is really the only forum i will post questions on, and get a decent answer. :)

It was a raw bench. No shirt, no belt, and only my dobie/shepherd mix as a spotter. It was either make it or break it.
I honestly felt like I could get one more rep, but my dog is not rthe best spotter in the world. She's great at squirrels, hogs, deer, etc. But weights? not very helpful.

Wow great bench. Just what I need to read after turning 50.

Good job Buf... That is not just excellent... that is OUTSTANDING. Hope to join the 500 club one of these days. I am still stuck in the mid 400s. Keep it up. I am close to 40 now and still getting stronger. :)

LOL, Mine either Bro, If they only had thumbs I believe I could train mine to spot me! lol
Dam Good Job brother!! I hope I can do half that good in another 10 years with the way my shoulders are acting I doubt it but a man can wish..

I pyramid up so I can tell where my strength is on that day before I get there. I would not have tried it just for the sake of trying it. that's how injuries occur. But pyramiding up you can feel the weight and see how you feel under it before you get there.

How many forums you on Buf? Lol.
If you can get to 555 that's 10lb per yr of living :)

! shit,i was gettin happy with 365x1 at 44,lol...!

lol Sounds like me exact weight and age.. Although I can get 5 now a days anything over 300# I get a loud popping sound in my shoulders no pain but I know it's bound to be doing damage! So I've slacked a bit..
