Some of you may not even realize the NPC has a physique class for men. They wear boardshorts and come out like runway models. It is the craze here, there's like 4 guys I know doing a show in April. I guess I'm old school cause I think the shit is whacked. Opinions?

its not that stupid its not bodybuilding but the guys are still a little jacked with abs they aways had soemthing like that for females so they tested it out on guys and i guess it caught on i know alot of people who workout but dont want to be a bodybuilder and this sorta fits them

To me it is just a hardbody contest that should be kept in places like Cabo and cancun, not on a competitive stage.

I agree with Lifts and BSD and others on the fact that , I would never do it .
For one I dont desire the washboard ab's look although I do like to keep mine showing a tad.
For two I want to grow and grow and grow and I do like to look Jacked but a show doesnt appeal to me especially a figuire mens comp show ...I got to much ink and my Dinker is way to small to be wearing boy shorts on stage ...
Pretty isnt my calling I reckon .....

It's gayish. It's steroids without eating. It's the male equivalent of the waif thin bitches that walk up and down the runways. I like the classic physiques of the 80s and 90s. Everything else is a little odd to me.

I agree and then dis agree! I have great quads and a nice sweep but I busted my balls to get them. I'll be damned if I wear shorts over them! lol. BUT!!! I do train guys for these shows, have 2 clients currently training for one this month. They are tall, both 6'2", great upper bodies but are in the process of bringing up the lower half. It is living the lifestyle while prepping for the BB world. I think if one is doing it otherwise, than your a homo! lol

Well shit, my good friend and old roommate, that is 49yo just stopped by the house tonight and informed me that he is also doing the physique contest in april, the NPC Grand Prix, he was a competitive bodybuilder almost 20years ago and now this SOB tells me this. I about feel off my recliner. He is one of those guys that has a serious case of Peter Pan syndrome and wants to do it to feel young I guess. Looks like I will be supporting his crazy ass.LOL I will say he will probaly win the 45 and over masters class. He is half Japanese, has good genetics and looks like he is in his 30's.

I just seen this at the last show i went to.

3 guys 1 was about 30 looked like a surfer, the other 2 look like a pair of male models, i was like wth is this. My brother said the three of them were backstage working out and getting ready with a SHAKEWAKE and all the bodybuilders were laughing and making fun of em. I dont get the point of it, to me you just do it to look good for girls.

Be a man and go the whole way.

How can a guy using a shakewake look good to girls?
Guess that's why I'm a lesbian.

yeah but those guys do workout its not liek they are scrawny.... i dunno if its different here in canada or toronto but i met a guy he was pretty jacked but like in a good way not over the top like you guys say appealing to women i think he came first in the competition and its funny cuz hair style gets you points... on another note he went on stage for bodybuilding i forget which class maybe middle weight he came third so i dunno maybe its alot different in the states but that at least shows you he was built

I am on both sides of the fence. Like beast, I have a couple of clients doing these shows as they work their way into the BB world. I will say that is has come a long way from when it started. The first few shows was just a ton of skinny guys who ran and did some pushups walking around. I had a client doing the heavyweight (bb) and when the BBs were around those guys, they all just stared them down like why are they in the same room. Hate to say, but I was right there with them lol. I made sure to prioritize the weights for those who needed it and gave two rubberbands to the entire physique class to use to warm up with lol

Come on DADAWG this is a men's physique thread. Not a real man's lifting thread!

Mens physique is for guys that don't work their legs... That being said i think it's kind of dumb but these shows are a business and it damn sure gets more people paying the 80.00 to enter and 100.oo for npc cards etc. So while it might be a little gay it does help the sport.. and this is coming from me the dude that prefers speedos over board shorts... I told you board shorts are gay SPEEDOS FOR LIFE BABY!!

This past weekend I attended an NPC show in LA and it also included PRO physique men and pro figure woman,.so with all the physique categories and bullshit, the bodybuilding was pushed to the end so prejudging started at 11am and my boy in the LHW class didn't step on stage til 4, total BS and the night shoe didn't end til 12:30am. At least I don't have to pay the new ridiculous prices for tickets, they have tripled in the last 2 years. Done ranting..LOL

yeah the cost is getting a little rediculous in my opinion... my show next weekend just to enter two classes and my npc card 260.00 no the ole lady and the kids want to come to the show... there's another 100.00 oh and lets not forget the spray tan from another 100.00...
