Just sold the gixxa thousand.
I'm
Traveling next Saturday indefinitely but when I return I'm
Interested in getting a cruiser. I was thinking a custom sportster.. But wouldn't mind a custom bobber/chopper.
What would you fellas go for
Softtail
Hardtail?
Rigid.

My grandfather has a few BSA's, triumphs. That I could modify but I doubt these will handle a small HD engine in them. I love the spring look seat with big rake forks and some ape hangers.. I'm abit young for the classic Harley look. If you could build
Your own what would it be? I'll post up pics of the customs I like when I get home!

Go for something custom like a pro street but with a good motor in it. You could even build your own for 20 000.

***NO SPORTSTER***, dont even look at them, they hold no value, they are small, you will wish you bought a big bike as soon as you ride it home, your friends will make fun of you, they are known as girls bikes, shall i go on? a ridged and a hard tail are basicly the same thing and will ride very ruff. soft tail is a good choice as are any of the other models. and as mentioned above if your buying new which i dont recomend you could build one for a fair price. truth is there is thousands of bikes out there for real good prices you just have to look and the key is having your cash ready! this is one instance where MONEY TALKS! i wont wheel and deal unless im shown the cashola. and showing money first can sometimes get a seller excited. do tons of research, go ride some bikes at the dealer. just pretend you want to buy new. my soft tail has been real good to me but if it were me my next would be a custom as well. good luck let us know what you end up doing.

The most affordable HD is the Dyna. Either fatbob, street bob, wide glide or low. Still the big engine, but not the price of the softail models.

My next scoot is a softail springer... ;)

I could not agree more on the sporty issue. Unless you can find an old Shovel Head Sporty.
I ride a touring model (Road King) but love the bobber style, Fat tires, ape hangers, springer front end.

so sportsters are ghey hey?
no worries ill steer clear! this is something id really like. im not a fan at all of the old style harleys but this is what tickles my pickle.

what would this setup be called? rigid springer? i honestly dont no the setup of a harley. ie. frames forks etc. i can strip down a sports bike and name every piece but have never been into the harley look until now. i will give a detailed list of the bikes i have access too through my grandfather when i go to his joint today :)

That's a nice little bobber. Hard tail, springer, shovelhead motor. No sportsters!

Very nice scoot! Or rigid shovel springer. Open belt drive
Personally I like to have some shocks even though mine are slammed.
I'd still pimp that bobber! Lol

Nice bobber! I love that style of bike. I'd have slammed a 105ci knuckle head in there though.

that's one sweet ride right there, THAT is exactly what I want to get for my next. I'm a little worried bout the hardtail though, I have a bad back and no rear suspension can be kinda brutal on the back.

So I've worked out what I wanted an none of youse have given me any shit so it ain't a girls bike. But what bike would be best to customize? Keep in mind I'm a mechanical engineer and can/will do all the work myself. Ad if I can't I know where it can be taken. Would a Harley frame with a crate motor be the way to go? And I'll do the moding myself?

Bro... another thing to consider is what type of bike riding are you going to be doing? If you are going to cruise cross country than you want to get one that is little more geared for that. If you want a local cruiser than the bobber posted above is awesome. There are looks and there are also feel. A softail is good cross between the two. You can customize them good and still get a hard look, but have some comfort. It all depends on what you are looking to do with it. Thats the beauty of these type of bikes.

Im not a chopper guy at all. I love my Harleys always have. I own a Night Train atm and am slowly customizing it into and ol skool bobber style as I LOVE the older bobber look. I love that bobber in the pix, just NOT the rigid ride.

hard tails look wicked cool but unless your just gonna ride a few miles at a time get a softtail

here ya go.. I like this

This is my little bobber. It's cool enough I guess, but the little xs650 motor makes it slow as fuck. My next one will have a Shovel or Pan motor

That most assuredly will also tickle your prostate!

If you're looking at a trancision from sports bike to Harley you could allways look at the Vrod.
