...about how many of you would still be dedicated to the iron and hit it regularly if you lived here where I do (Philippines). The climate here is treacherous. The gym has NO air-conditioning and NO electric fans. Most of the time there is not a breeze, and if there is, its usually NOT blowing in the direction of the 2 windows.lol I'm dripping sweat within' 5 minutes of walking in the door, and usually soaking wet within' 30 mins. It takes a very strong will to keep kickin' it day in and day out, for over a year in these condtions. Sometimes you feel so hot in there like you could fry an egg on your head haha! Its literally like working out in a sauna. Forget the temperature, the dewpoint tells all about the "misery factor" - and here the dewpoints are always over 75 and many times over 80. Year round. But because I am one thats been addicted to this game for about 35 years, I must do it. If not, I'm dead anyways. How about you guys? Who of you loves this game enuff that you could hang? :D

I wouldn't live in the Philippines bro, I doubt that I could tolerate the heat.

I doubt I could live there either dude, It's all I can do to tolerate the heat at the beach while on Vacation..lol

I think I could bro! Especially when your twice the size of any filo living there! You must feel like a king! But damn it sounds tough..

It's been pretty damn hot near me the last 4 years most days in the summer months hitting 100 degrees. My gym has air but they don't like to use it. I sweat buckets.

I would have no issues with working out ,being dedicated to the iron in the heat and dew point conditions .I value my appearance way to much to give it up due to heat or humidity.
I like the looks I get from folks when they see me with Y back tank tops or sleevless shirts and them wishing they could look like me ,
I would have issues living in the phillipenes though,,,,,I dont get along very well with folks of different origin or nature than mine.

Brother I live in Florida and mostly train in my back yard, and started training on the prison compound weight pile, a white patch of Florida sand in 100+ degree heat.
I could hang with you. But I do low reps and just a few sets now that I'm older and started competing in PL comps again.
But, yeah, sounds like home!

Yeah I figured if anyone would hang it would be you since you live in FLA. Thing is, imagine, here its like FLA in August ALWAYS haha. So no break, not even one day that you will get by without being DRENCHED - peeling off the socks, undies and all. :p

There is one gym that has air-con near me, but the price is $5 per workout (my gym is 75 cents) and its "pretty". Always playing gay music, and too many machines and not enuff weights. At least in the sweat-hole I go to, they have tons of free weights, and I can take my MP3 player to kick it to Metalica, GNR, Drowning Pool, etc. :)

^^^ I meant you can plug your MP3 player into the stereo they have there to pound your music loud as hell. :D

I've trained in many conditions and was never one for preferring comfort. Are you at least near the beach?
I was a life guard on the Palm Beach County Beach Patrol when I was 18 and loved training in the broiling Florida sun, but that occasional dip in the ocean made it all worthwhile.
Used to go for runs in Las Vegas in 105 degree heat, when I was stationed there, but I'm sure the wet heat is much different.
Like Johnny wrote about you, "At your size you must be treated like a King," and like Biker wrote, ad lib, "That always accounts for something!"

Hank this reminds me a liottle of my first gym when i was 17-18. It was an old YMCA. All the Italian kids trained there. there was no air conditioning. We all would shave our heads in the summer and just train. When you walked in there was a steam in the air from everybody sweating. The equipment was old and make-shift but everybody got bigger. There was a heavy bag in the center of the gym hanging from about 15 feet of chain. Some local boxers trained there off periods from Uncle Sam's Boxing Club. The weight gym was on an old basketball court that was totally trashed. On the opposite side of the building was a fully functional B-ball court and we would all play ball after weights. i have some fond memories of there but we did sweat our balls right off.

If I had a beach near I would be in HEAVEN haha! I live about 1 hour north of Manila - also, middle of the island so the beaches and breeze from beaches are far from me. :( :wallbash: :p

Me too so I would have to move ..lmao.. I've either been in a -20 deg freezer or on a 120 deg roof ed for 20+ years so I could tolerate the heat in short burst, but still I'd either workout in the middle of the night or move..

I couldn't live somewhere that hot, so no chance of training.

Props to you brother

10 years ago I could have hung with you hank but now that I'm 3 years away from 40 I would hang it up in those conditions...your a beast to keep at it like you do

I think it's not so much the temperature. It's more the humidity right? I've spent time in mining towns where it's 46 Celsius. Which is 115 Fahrenheit! I can handle it alright but I know it's humid as hell in places like Philippines! Your on a constant cutting diet dph haha

That's dedication. I'm sweating buckets in Canada on a daily basis. Couldn't imagine the temperature there. Another reason it's difficult to work out when I go south on vacation

3 years away from 40!?
Just wait, son. Bwahahahahahaha!

I'd have to live there awhile and try to adjust to the climate to really have an idea. On Friday's, I train at this POS gym outside of town because it's close to where I work, and they don't have air conditioning either. It gets anywhere between 100-110+ outside here, so it's even worse inside. I lose POUNDS just after this one workout...though I have the whole weekend to rehydrate since I train DC style M/W/F.

Great job, Hank....it's mentally tough (and physically) to keep up in those conditions. These other nicer gyms really spoil the fuck out of us...lol!
