Well I hate to post this but on Wednesday at work I was attacked by a pitbull and I'm gonna tell you guys it was completely unprovoked on my hair because all I was doing was working. He came off of a porch with the other pit and first latched onto my left calf I shook him loose and before I could do anything he grabbed my right calf. I spent 3 hours in the ER being fixed back up. So guys becareful out there.

I can barely walk with my right foot he did a lot of deep tissue damage to that side

It's not the dogs fault it's the FUCKING OWNERS for not properly training him.

I used to believe it was the owners as well, never the dogs fault but I do believe now there is too much fighting bread into that breed. I have seen it up close and personal with my own dogs. Raised with nothing but love. I shot them both less then a year ago because a play session turned into a fight session which I was breaking up. Then both dogs took on me. I tried as long as I could, kids screaming, wife hitting one in the head as they both tore into me. My oldest ran for a gun and then it was stopped. I could have died that day. Golden retrievers don't do that. Great family dogs. I miss them, but don't enjoy the 2 scars, one on my forearm, one on the top of my foot both about 6" long. If it were my daughters with the same bites, I'm not sure they would have been the same. Hope your OK Ozzy. ps...A .40 Glock works wonders

Are you one of those sick bastards that like that sort of thing??? Ha!! I'll get them up. The words too.

the for got pretty infected. This is about a month after the byte.

Mmmm..... i am still on the dogs side. All dogs fight. It is the owners that need to watch what the dogs are doing. They need to be trained conditioned and keep going through what they learn.. we have 3 pits 2 dobes and a cane corso dane mix all which sleep together and play together.. 4 are rescues and by far are the most loyal, awesome to train and eager to please their handlers. I do believe that the dogs should not have been off leash unless in their own fenced in yard...

For the record there are kids of ages 4 to 18 in the house.

There is a problem with a breed of they have to be chained or leashed so they don't attack people.

I hate that guys, I hope you heal up quickly... I've had a pit for over 10 years and it's been one of the best dogs I've ever owned t's all how the dogs is raised in my opinion... My daughter can still ride my dog...lol

I have 2 female pits now. Awesome dogs but they will be he last pits I own. Love the breed, just after my experience I feel they're unpredictable. I miss the 2 I shot all the time and if I could rewind, I'd have done it different. But oh well.

The worst dogs out there are ankel biters... the tea cup pups. If they were 40 to 50 pounds more these would be on the no breed bill. As far as leashed. Its called being responsible. When walking a dog in public it had better be leashed. As far as in our home they are never leashed. The worst thing that happens with our dogs is the slobber and drool or getting knocked over because one wants attention.

My wife and I have this fight from time to time..... she volunteers at a shelter and every now and again she'll fall for one... will tell me how sweet they are, how gently and misunderstood....I guess I just don't trust the breed... I ask why it is there, that usually ends the argument.

To many stories about them turning on a member of the family... its sad but I think they have been fucked with too long to fight....

The exact reason people will pay big money for certain breeds, as opposed to getting a mixed breed mutt for free, is that that they know that certain characteristics accompany certain breeds. Maybe it is the size of the dog, the fact that it is good for hunting or tracking, and so forth. Some breeds develop reputations for being loving, or playful, or energetic or nervous, or whatever. But most breeds develop a reputation for something.

I have no problem with people owning pitbulls. I have a big problem with owners acting all shocked and surprised when their pitbull bolts from their control and attacks some innocent passerby. Gee, who would have thought that a breed specifically bred for centuries to fight to the death would be violent?

That is about as "shocking" as a bird dog who is able to fetch.

I do think it has a lot to do with the owner but when is the last time you heard a untrained great dane or lab attacking anyone? I think pitbulls are great dogs with proper training. I just think some require more attention and I would never leave my child alone with one, but i also own a 160lb rottie, which growing up I was scared of. I know its a sensitive subject and nobody will win. I think dogs are just like people. Some are assholes and some are awesome, regardless what training they have recieved

Rotties were in the same category as pits 10 to 15 years ago when I was breeding them to the point I had to carry extra insurance for them on my homeowners..
But after the fighting pits got so popular the rotties seem to be forgotten about or just put on the back burner....
I love Rotties!!

Just make sure the dogs are killed. Nonsense in having them on earth if they attack from next door.

Everyone should research why a breed of dog was bred in the beginning.
You'll be surprised what most were originally bred for. You must also think of how long ago their original breeding was.
So don't think a dog that was bred to protect or take down large animals was meant for suburbia. Cause you're fucking stupid. You can't outrun your genetics.

Hope you heal up fast Ozzy! No fun when something like that happens. Happened to me as a kid. I think specific dogs have specific tendencies, but dogs also have their own personalities. I have owned a pure black lab and this is when I lived on a farm with my parents and he was a sweetheart and a great bird dog, but he liked to attack runners and people he didn't know. We never beat him or miss treated him. I think it had a little to do with the fact that he wasn't exposed to a lot of people, so he was bit protective.

Get well soon Ozz....One of my friends about had her arm ripped damn near off by her family pet pitbull, They had that pit for a very long time and one day it just snapped on her and ripped almost all the muscle off her arm

Agreed. Owners are bad, not their dog(s) :redhot:

Well....kinda and kinda not. Fact is some animals are born agressive just like people. IMO, agressive animals that hurt people dont have a place here. I have two large, loving, happy labs. I said it and I mean it...if they were to ever attack someone for the hell of it, I would destroy them immediately. Them being provoked is a different story.

I am pretty sure ozzy didnt call out a pair of pits while working that day :)

yes. In some cases it can be the owner. But if it was always the owner like some claim, where are the stories of the golden retrievers killing a kid or the yellow lab tearing a guys calf off?? Seems to me its always pits.
