thanks IG I'm pretty happy so far... I haven't taken any Vicodin since bedtime last night and I'm feeling real good. Of course the pain pump is still in there... I don't expect it will be too bad though without it.

Here's a quick pic of me from this morning... looking hot in my sling Nice hair right? Thats what happens when you aren't allowed to shower in the morning

Put some pics of the bandages and the pain pump in the pictures section...

Still haven't needed any Vicodin today - let it hang a bit without the sling and it got pretty sore, but it wasn't too bad... some of the puffiness I had in that pic above is starting to go away. My fingers were huge earlier I couldn't even move my ring this morning!

Picked up some Bromelain this morning too... supposed to be a "wonder suppliment" that helps with healing - so we'll see how that goes

Woke up around 5am with my shoulder absolutely killing me - but couldn't get up to take anything because Tracy was asleep on my other arm and wouldn't wake up! Once I finally managed to get up it felt better to just move it... I did pop a couple Vicodin to fall back asleep though. Overall last night the shoulder felt BETTER without the pump in it - felt like I could move it more easily, but so far this morning (been up for like 20 minutes) it is pretty achy. I will be going to the gym this morning to ride the exercise bike and maybe do some easy leg work. I am going to wait a bit though, want to make sure the Vicodin from this morning is out of my system before I try driving.

It has been nice the past couple of days - my friend Peter has been staying here during the day to help out with things... today is the first day I've been home alone... luckily Peter left a fridge full of food that he cooked! Tracy is still staying with me of course, but she works all day...

Went to the gym... did 35 minutes on the bike, then some knee extensions, seated hamstring curls, and sled calf raises. Felt good! I had to laugh when I got there though - the lady behind the desk asked "What are you planning to do today with your arm in a sling?" I said "Cardio" She said "Now that is dedication!" I kind of glanced around the gym at the 3 people that were there working out in their WHEELCHAIRS and had to laugh at how stupid that comment was!!

Yesterday (Sunday) went to the gym and rode the exercise bike x 35 minutes... then did 1 rest paused set of dumbell bicep curls, chest press machine, shoulder press machine, seated row machine, and one armed lat pulldowns for my left side My left side is pretty sore today!!

Shoulder is more on the achy side today - was pretty active all weekend with it, so I'm not surprised. I start PT today - so we'll see how THAT goes!

First PT appointment was today... Things went really well - a lot more range of motion than expected... Started on some simple exercise, did bicep curls up to 10lbs for 10 reps which made my shoulder hurt pretty bad because of the weight hanging down.

Yesterday I did a "real" leg workout... Sumo leg press (set of 12), standard leg press (set of 10, set of 20), and paramount machine calf raises (5 second negative, 15 second stretch each rep) - felt great to do some "real" exercise, even though I kept the weights kind of low. Not being able to use my right arm to self-spot on leg press makes me nervous.

Today was my first follow up appointment with my surgeon - he showed me the pictures and went over exactly what he did in there. Told me that normally he keeps the shoulder immobilized 4 weeks with what he did to me, but since I have "more knowlege than the average person" he is letting me use the arm for daily activities right away - problem with that is that it feels so good I keep forgetting I had surgery!! Oh well.
Also had my second PT appointment today - did my bicep curls with 9lbs 2x15 and 10lbs x 15 today with no pain Also added in some theraband tricep extensions - pretty sad that I was shaking by rep 6 of each set with a red band! Did that for 3 sets of 15... along with general active/assisted range of motion exercises. Fun fun fun! One of my co-workers noticed that the incision site on the back of my shoulder is pretty red, and it also itches - so I'm a bit nervous about it being infected now... I'll be calling the doctor tomorrow morning if it still looks that way when I wake up.

This morning I had my 3rd PT appointment... woke up with the shoulder just KILLING me - I think it is from not wearing my sling to sleep, and being woken up by my asshole neighbor's stereo which made me jump up out of bed and slam my bathroom door into the wall we share a bunch of times... just maybe that had something to do with it.
Anyway in PT today I was able to do 2x15 with 10lbs for bicep curls and 1x15 with 12lbs with no pain Also added in some shrugs with the HUGE 30lb dumbells we have in the clinic - felt good to do it even though I used 130s last time I did dumbell shrugs! Also managed to get through 3 sets of 15 on the tricep extensions without much shaking.

Anyway... after PT I went to the gym and did 45 minutes on the bike followed by 1 rest paused set each for biceps, triceps, back width, back thickness, shoulders, and chest on my left side only. Felt good... now I'm going to eat some food, take a shower, and take a nap!!

45 minutes on bike this morning.

Went to the casino last night - came out $61 ahead - that puts me like $150 ahead from the last 3 times we went! Tracy ended up putting a 20 in a slot machine and ended up with almost $90! Was a good evening - that more than covered dinner! Hopefully when we go to Vegas at the end of March we can get enough to cover part of the trip!

Yesterday in PT I kicked some serious ass! About 130-140 degrees of active shoulder flexion!! Some highlights of the workout:
                                arm bike level 4 x 8 minutes
                                bicep curls 12lbs x 15; 15lbs 2x15
                                1 arm machine row 20lbs 2x15
theraband tricep extension GREEN band 3x15

My therapist scared the crap out of me though - and I think when I go in wednesday I'm going to switch to someone else - this is hard because he is one of my best friends, its just that he almost did something that would have sent me back to surgery... Remember I had a repair of the cartilage in the back of my shoulder - the tear was right at "9 o'clock", and they put that back together with a screw and a suture. Well during the stretching part of my treatment he started to do a posterior shoulder glide mobilization - which means he was going to take my arm bone and slide it BACKWARDS in the joint!! That would be sliding the bone right over the torn cartilage that was just repaired 2 weeks ago!!! I told him to stop and not do it - so he didn't, but the fact that he almost did do it really made me worry. That and the fact that I asked him what he wanted to add for that visit he said I should just go ahead and do what I feel like doing! Not cool.
Anyway, things are moving on up though
