Gym ownership

Not trying to get in anyone's personal business, but does anyone on here own their own gym... I have a friend on the coast that wants me to go in partners with him on a gym. He is very business oriented and I have lived in the gym for the last 16 years. It was my savior from coke and two of my god friends own gyms. I just wanted to see what others people have to say and their experiences. I know everyone has an opinion, but I need facts from people who truly know.. I've been looking for a way to get to the gulf coast and this could be my way.....

Damn right brother If you can afford it and your not tied down family wise I'd be all over it.. Follow your heart or one day you may regret it!..

I say make a solid decision based on the numbers. Just remember no matter what your passionate about everyone hates their job at some point. But hell im a finance guy that dont take many risks so i will never be rich.

I've dreamed of it for several years and the location is great.. My girl of four years loves her job and I love her so that has me hesitating, but hopefully she'll come on board.. She can work any where in her field and we are taking about living at the beach so what's not to like :-).... Just thinking it through and wanted to hear different opinions :-)

Thanks brothas :-)

I have a friend who had a gym. He was bought out by anytime fitness. He couldn't compete with the chains in prices.

One (#1) of 3 BAD THINGS I can see about living at the beach is being at a "tourist trap" (beach) year round I live right beside one that only happens twice a year March/August (Nascar race) thank God it's only 2 weeks a year for me but having almost a extra 200k people in your small town sucks at times but it really nice during the fall race when 90% of all these beautiful women in town wear damn near nothing..
(#2) That and dealing with the heat year round would really suck if you was somewhere like FL but in your job it wouldn't be bad! Now in my field on the other hand it would be horrible either being in a -20 freezer all day long or working up on a roof that's over +120f or more is worse than being in HELL I would imagine..
(#3) I'm thinking this would be the worst of all, Living near the guy that posted below you as a neighbor since he (WHEYRAGE) lives at the beach would really be HELL, :frogjump: If your going to be in the same area as him Run FAR and Run FAST! :teleport:
Most of all like I already stated follow your heart and make sure your going to be happy because life is way to short not to be happy. Good luck brother and may God smile on your decision!

I personally would love to own/run a gym. It seems like I would be combining my passion with my day to day necessity of bringing home a paycheck. For me the real problem would be being around all of those hot babes in their little work out tights all day long. For some reason women love me and worse I love them back, which my wife is well aware of. It would be both a dream come true and a true continuous test of will and character; and my character is very much lacking lately.

Safer than living next to a hillbilly with a banjo.

^^^^ to buf and Freezer for their comments... I agree with both... The truth is I love working out and I love helping people train the right way.. When I was young, I was very small and no one would help me.. I switched from weights, because no one would help to soccer, then football to TaeKwonDo... It wasn't until I was about 28 until I started hitting the weights... Now when I get a chance to help someone I do it!!! I love the iron and the life it has given me... Confidence, at times income, and a rocking hott girlfriend... The iron has help chisel my character and I love it. Whether I decide to or not. I will lift and help others enjoy my love of lifting forever.. In 16 years I've gone from 168lbs to 240lbs. Been very successful in the paper industry and now automotive, and I feel my appearance has had just as much to do with that as my personality...

Thanks for everyone's comments ;-)

I had 2 a while ago and my best bud had 14, and now we have none. I was looking into it again in my area but the numbers don't work..
