A little Rant

My gym need some new leg equipment. The gym is awesome, but my only complaint is the state of the leg equipment:

1. Leg Press - This machine needs some mainance real bad. If you put 6 plates on a side, it feels like 12 because the wheels don't roll correctly on the track. It's tough to try and gauge your improvement on machines that are not up to par. Because of this, I have to resort to the Hammer Leg Press, and with the DC training, I think I am going to be able to outlift this machine by the end of the year.

2. Calf rasies - Grip Tape is Cheap! Make sure the damn calf machines have grip tape that is in good shape. It is tough to really get a good stretch at the bottom of the exercise when you are worried about falling off the machine.

3. Hack Squat - Grip Tape.. again. 2, the platform on this machine seems too small. I am not very tall (5'8") and I have a hard time going below parallel on this. My feet end up being to close to my body and it puts a lot of stress on my knees. When I was in school, the hack squat machine there was awesome. I never knew how great of a machine it was until I tried out one that works well.

That's it!

thats it? boy o boy... my gym is hurting in regards to equipment and space. i really need to find another one!

My gym is perfect other than these 3 points.

The Calf Machine is easy to fix: Go to Canadian Tire and buy some grip tape.

But I think the HS and LP machines need to be replaced.

The only problem is that not too many people work out their legs. Some women do, but they use such light weight that it is hard to tell the machine is shit.

I would complain, but there is a new gym opening here in the next month. I have talked to the owner and it looks like I will be getting a job there (I hope), so I will have a new place to lift!

the only complaint i have with my gym is there is always something out of order.... and it take them weeks to fix it... it always seems to be something they only have two of also... cables, smith rack, lat pull down... :(

I have no coplaints here. Sometimes you get that machine that hasn't been fixed in over 2 weeks

You will have to make adjustments to every gym you go into, I always carry a squeeze bottle of Tri-Flow for bicycles for all the trees and plate spindles so plates go on easy and machines glide smoothly, do not use spray for other members allergies and do not use WD-40, its just Karosene.

I always have some grip tape with me, if you live by the ocean or get some from a surf shop online you can get any size you want.

Hacks well that is different, I had the foot plate on ours changed out so we all had more foot room, plus I made steel extensions for the Hack and all Hammer Machines to be able to handle more than 5 plates per side.

Don't worry bout the weight on the old Leg Press, just concentrate on your reps and keep those glides Tri-Flowed up, maybe if you can add weight to the top of the machine to see if it can even out the problem...

I'm guessing Tri-Flow is what is called 3 In One oil over here :)

Actually its a lot thicker than 3n1 is, made to handle speed under force Tri-Flow is...

Oh, good call, 3 in 1 is defintely low viscocity and not something you'd want to use on a large object :D
