I need someone to analyze my 40 via Mpeg, its for bragging rights in the gym, got one month to run a world record! hehe. I'll post a video in a day or two, next time I run in the daylight. Peace out!

first two steps is most important..i played college football at a small d3 school... Before the summer started i was running a lousy 4.8 at 210 #'s.. I hit the compound movements all summer.. the first couple of months i did some jogging just to keep in shape.. 3 weeks out from training camp i worked with a trainer and he had me doing tons of agility and plyometric work.. box jumps jump rope cones and a few other things are very important.. he had these bad ass viper cords that would pull you they were like large rubberbainds they got me use to running much faster... Bye the end of the sumer i ran a 4.6 at 215 pounds which wasn;t too bad.. The first couple steps and your start is where you need to concentrate on

i was an elite level athlete with a chance to play some big colleges

to be perfectly honest if your REALLY serious about improving your speed you NEED to hit a speed camp and go see a specialist

otherwise just practice and run with your friend

Thate, that was a really really bad idea, did you know that cops have long range tasers now? Who saw that coming? and even though they don't carry night sticks anymore I think the maglights left bigger bruises. the first 20 yards was definately faster though! jk

I did run a 4.75 at 275 on the laser when I played football at LSU about 10 years ago. Haven't really sprinted since. We had a great speed coach and a brand new indoor practice facility that was fully equiped with ladders, sleds, chutes and everything. Then I ruptured two disc and withdrew to save a year of eligibilty. The next year instead of redshirting I played JUCO, ruptured the same two discs mid season and broke my foot the same week. I never returned because of some minor nerve damage I had then. I am thinking of enrolling somewhere small next season just to suit up and hurt some people or possibly myself. I have had plenty of training but I feel akward out of the box, my memory is so bad I had to pull up videos to remember proper form leaving out of the box, keeping my head down and my stride feel pretty natural, though. Now I am leaner and at 245 I wanna get my forty down in the 4.5-4.6 range at over 6'3", a 495 bench and once a teen record holding squater I should make a great line backer if I can get fast enough and hey I still have eligibilty! I got strings I can pull to make it happen and I still got that blue chip magazine I was on the cover of at my parents.

The two things that always worked for me were 'chutes and sleds. I dropped my 40 time by at least 0.1 seconds every summer i was in high school playing ball. The one year i went out for ball in college they had us doing pretty much the same. There was a variation to it but it always came down to training on either weighted sleds or parachutes. I was quick for a D-lineman (4.6 @ 230). The sleds were the biggest help in my opinion

I have been rained out every day since my post! except for right now and I just did calves, my time would be about 8.0 if i were to run right now, ugh. planning on taping tuesday hopefully. Meanwhile, I'll just keep eatin shkrimp with Bubba on the shkrimp boat.

I ran a 4.59 at 218#. That ain't that fast. I just used to squat a lot and really try to load my legs up before the initial push. I have no idea what I run now at 280 LOL.

That's pretty fast at that weight dude. most people are under the illusion that they run in the low fours when they are usually about 4 tenths off. Look at the nfl combine times for your weight, when its accurately measured it makes a huge difference. 95% of the people out there have inaccurate times especially if it was a highschool time. When I ran that 4.75 at 280 as a freshman they freaked and coach Dinardo had an immediate meeting with me to move me to D end and off O line. That 4.75 was a 4.6 by my high school coaches stop watch. All my other passes were in the 4.8's except that one freak time.

I ran a 4.6 @ 210, stong safety in college......I was much faster at longer distances....some people "play" faster as oppossed to just being fast.
