i've been wondering about this for a while now, 3/4 of my friends dont work out and are smaller than me, useless to say i can knock the shit outta em with a single punch but anyway, i did an arm wrestling once with a dude who was about the same size as me a little bit older but hella skinny comparing to me who never worked out and shit .... and he beat me down.... i was like " what the fuck ". Then i tried to figure out which muscles were involved in an arm wrestling but still haven't found out, its not the deltoids, the biceps or the tris, neither the muscles of the forearms, so it remains obscure. What yall think ?

It has alot to do with technique, I could never arm wrestle to save my ass.

Most of it is technique. If you use all arm strength you will get crushed by someone using leverage and there entire body to beat you. I prepared for a arm wrestling meet, and did a shitload of wrist curls and reverse wrist curls. I think technique is key, but technique and strength combined are the ticket. I won $500 for beating 5 guys, easiest $500 i've ever made.

Technique and leverage.

Here are some tips:

Grip high. You can dramatically increase your leverage and chances of winning by getting a grip high on your opponent's thumb.

Get a little closer. The shorter the distance between your hand and your body, the more leverage you get. And the more leverage you have, is better.

Start strong. Since most arm-wrestling bouts end in less than 10 seconds, the competitor who makes the first strong move is usually the one who wins. Use everything you've got from the very start.

kind of off topic, but have any of you guys had the drunken arm wrestling tourney among friends, and regreted it for the next couple of weeks....ive done this twice... arm wrestled 5-6 times one night and for a week or more your elbow hurts beyond pain... we train our muscles daily, but man that did some damage to my elbow...ouch...
