Well, I looked around. Found a really good hard core gym but it was just too far away, and since I started taking courses two weeks ago to get my bachelors degree I just don't have the extra time i used to. I settled on a gold's gym that is sort of on the way home from work. I went to a golds last year in gainesville when I had a big job there and it wasn't too bad.
The kid that signed me up was a very nice and wanted to try to train with me. So we set up a leg training session for Thursday. He's maybe 180lbs, and ripped. I figure if nothing else he can put the weight on the bar and take it off. If I want to get mean I'll do leg presses with about 1260 on there just to break his will (that's like 14 plates per side for the uninitiated). But I like the kids attitude.
I do not really need a personal trainer since the way I have found that works for me is not the same as any "program" someone may have read in a book, or even what works for them. At my age and my level of both strength and development I figure as long as it's working why change it, right? I can't do all the sets you younger guys do and maintain my strength. I get over trained too easily. So I have to do just enough, then leave it alone, as hard as that is sometimes, like when I'm feeling the pump and want to push it more and more.
He did ask me if I was on steroids, which sort of took me aback. My pause in answering due to the shock of him asking, may have given me away but I just said that I would never do anything like that.
I've decided to keep my current membership at my old gym as well. It's only $35 a month for both my wife and myself. I worked legs there Saturday. Force of habit I guess. Plus I'm old and change is really hard for me.
