Good or bad idea?

I'll have to disagree with this, even though it looks fine at face value. Probably all of us here would be considered as obese if the doctors and health care professionals used the BMI system. Then, once they get their foot in the door in taxing fats, they'll want to start taxing certain carbs and sugars, etc.
 
But most countries have tried education i know the states and the uk have,the tax should be on the food processors and manfacturers they are the people responsible and they are aware of what they are putting in the foods
 
If the tax hits the manufacturers as well as consumers, I think it is a god idea. There should be a substantial tax on the use of trans-fat. Education has failed abysmally and the medical cost of obesity can partially be covered by this tax. That would be another criteria needed for this tax; that it go to health care costs.
