I cant stand these guys.....Yesterday i was bustin my ass at the gym and these 4 guys would do 1 half ass set then sit down for 15 min and text and talk on the phone and they kept doin it for like 2 hours....That shit pisses me off....

Yesterday in the gym I was sending nudes back and forth to my girl in between sets. This meathead dude was bustin his ass and ripping through sets and seemed pissed cuz I was relaxing and taking my time. WTF is wrong with that dude?

Im talkin about guys that are basically just sitting around the whole time and not really working out....There is nothing wrong with taking your time but u are actually there to train not take up space like these other guys....

I see guys checking their phone after every set, talking for 10 minutes do a set then talk for another 10 minutes getting in my way:mad: Another thing that pisses me off is assholes who read books between sets holding up shit.

Dude if it's taking you 2 hours to finish your workout your doing something wrong.. You should be in and out in 1 hour tops..

I do finish my workout in about 75 min but im doing 45 min of cardio also for the next 5 weeks....

Oh Man What vulgerarity! lol I was walking 2 to 3 miles ed before this last knee replacement but now nothing but I'm about to start it back as the knee allows.. I'm hoping by upping the gh I can lower the Cardio to get ripped..

My question is , How do people keep there phones with them while lifting ? I get so aggervated and worked up during chest day , back day and leg day that I have bloodshot eyes , pacing like a hungry tiger and wanting to throw shit at people who are stareing at me .My phone would be a projectile at someones head,And no I havent any anger issues,I just like for people to watch me push the heavy weights around and wish they could be short and thick like BikerTrash .
But anyhow ,I do understand the OP as my gym have the pansy's texting and talking also and there the first ones I want to bitch slap for looking at me .

But But ...I do keep my phone in the locker room so that I can send nudes to Darkness post workout to wake him every morning ...No Homo ,,,its just his motivation .....

Oh god i forgot cardio is a bad word lol....

I've got a guy I know in thet gym who is always doing that. Does a set then pulls out his phone. I finally asked him what he kept pulling his phone out for.
Turns out he was timing himself between sets and charting each set on his phone. I guess the phone also had his work out plan detailed so he knew where to go next.

Sorry man, I was sending ur pic to my agent. U know certain kinds of porn pays 3x what regular does. Not judging, just saying. BTW, ur pics on the main link already and I got some paperwork for you to sign, you know, to avoid litigation and all.

Gotta disagree my man. I think the "1 hour and out gig" has become so written in stone in recent years thats its become cliche. I am by far from being a volume guy btw, as many that know me here are aware. However, on back or leg day, I'm there easily for 75-90 minutes respectively. Much of that time is spent resting between bust ass heavy sets on exercises that expends alot of oxygen, ie, squats, deads, leg press, t-bar rows, bb rows, etc. I might rest 6-7 mins between heavy sets so I can come back recupped so I CAN use heavy weight. Show me someone resting 1 minute between sets of squats or deads and I'll show you a guy that could be using a shitload more weight. :D

I certainly do agree with you that marathon workouts are not the way to go. I'm just sayin' kickin' it for more than 60 minutes isn't wrong. A guy resting little may do 30 sets in that time, a guy resting much might do 8. The time period there isn't so much as important as whats actually getting done. ;)

i agree with hank--my workouts have been going over an hour for almost a year now

Do you think age also plays a factor in your rest time inbetween sets? I think it does in my case. I'm sure there are many other factors that could come into play also .. But age came to mind when you mentioned recouping..

I bet you a 100$ if you took a poll on these big board like bass's board etc 99% are in and out in 1 hr or less.. Damn sure won't find anyone in the gym for 2hrs unless there doing 45 minutes of cardio afterwards.Or trying to go Pro, Now it sometimes takes me 1 1/2 hours but I go workout and then take a shower before I leave if no shower I can do what I need to do In 45 min to 1hr max and that's because I'm slowed down due to the knee now a days..

Not at all for me bro. I was natty since beginning to pump iron in my teens all thru 20's & 30's. Even when I ventured to the dark side and hence, increased recovery, I still rested substantially between heavy sets. Any powerlifter will say the same. I never was one to make the iron session a cardio session and just pumping. :p

Like I said brutha, I'm not advocating marathon workouts. My back and leg days take longer than an hour, while chest, delt and arm days aren't that long. Some guys workouts that use heavy weight takes longer due to needed recovery time between sets. These guys are usually the bigger guys compared to the "pumpers" that hurry even thru squats, deads and the like. :)

Well I will have to agree with you on the leg workouts, My legs takes me at least 1 hour sometimes more but all other days are a Push/Pull routine and I can get done in about 45 mins but I guess everyones different, many things factor the time. Like Bass say's I have noticed a big difference now that I'm getting a little older and get winded easier especially when I get 250+.. Hell on a good leg day after I hit the shower it wil take damn near a half hour to drag my ass outide and get in my truck..lol

I'm with FD on this one, 45mins is plenty. Even if the gym's busy I don't need more than one hour.

I think the point is this: If you're capable of pulling out you phone to text with your girlfriends in between sets then chances are pretty good your not putting the effort required into the workout. Aside from that it's just rude to be holding up equipment because you're busy doing something that has no real pertinence to your routine. Catching your breath or replenishing stamina is one thing; tweeting to your faggot friends while taking up the Smith-Machine is a whole other story. Gym etiquette motherf**kers.

Age and conditioning. When I do squats or deads I'm huffing and puffing like I'm the big bad wolf!
And the heavier I go the longer I HAVE to rest between sets.
And I do know that when I was younger I did ont have to rest as much between sets. Of course in my golden years I am much stronger than I was even then.

Do you do quads & hams seperate? How about calves? I've always hit them all in the same workout. Unless someone is training extreme HIT, DC or the like, I'd like to see them accomplish all that in 45 mins. If they can, they are 1)severely limiting the weights they COULD be using had they rested longer on the bust-ass worksets of squats or leg presses, or 2) half assing it on leg day. Hell, I spend 30-35 minutes at the squat rack alone. Much also depends on the weights you're using. A guy maxing 300 on squats doesn't need to spend near as much time with as many warmups/feel-sets as a guy maxing 600. ;)
