Gotta disagree my man. I think the "1 hour and out gig" has become so written in stone in recent years thats its become cliche. I am by far from being a volume guy btw, as many that know me here are aware. However, on back or leg day, I'm there easily for 75-90 minutes respectively. Much of that time is spent resting between bust ass heavy sets on exercises that expends alot of oxygen, ie, squats, deads, leg press, t-bar rows, bb rows, etc. I might rest 6-7 mins between heavy sets so I can come back recupped so I CAN use heavy weight. Show me someone resting 1 minute between sets of squats or deads and I'll show you a guy that could be using a shitload more weight.
I certainly do agree with you that marathon workouts are not the way to go. I'm just sayin' kickin' it for more than 60 minutes isn't wrong. A guy resting little may do 30 sets in that time, a guy resting much might do 8. The time period there isn't so much as important as whats actually getting done.
