a lot of you on here no me for many years dating back to 2002-2003
on IT and you know how I train, go hard/heavy go home. I gotta start by saying at 41 and been clean for over a year now I still train heavy, yes I have a bad chest tear and don't go as heavy as usual but you get the point. so today at gym my knees are hurting bad so I decide I am just gonna leg press, at my gym the leg press holds nine plates each side on first level than an additional five each side on second tier. I decide I am only gonna do 18 plates and then drop set down, now there a lot of guys at this gym that are 400+ benchers and at the same time I am doing my drop sets two of these guys are going up to 465 so a lot of the plates are consumed by the three of us. as I do sets of 10 I rest 45-60 seconds strip and go, one of the guys benching comes over and takes this other dudes plates of the squat maching/hack squat cuz the guy is gone for like ten minutes, guy comes out and starts running his mouth and I say hey buddy I didn't take your plates he did, so he starts saying shit, I just blow him off and keep going but what are people expecting when they walk away from equipment its off limits?
thoughts please

There are always assholes in every gym. I cant stand the ones that stand around and talk and half ass use the equipment.

I'm really old and after 30+ years in the gym I use a lot of plates no matter what I'm doing. Leg presses I've ripped 1180 plus weight of machine. I take my time between sets. Up to 5 minutes some times. And I'll occasionally walk it off or go get water, etc. But I'll leave my towel and my weight belt there to say, "I'll be bach". It works pretty well. Being 270 doesn't hurt either.

Hey REPS, long time no see, bro.

The proper way of handling that is that if you need to walk away from your workout area, always leave something there to tell others that someone is working out there.

The problem is that I DID JUST THAT last week. Whatever area in the gym where I train, I always leave my towel and water bottle around. As I'm performing seated military press, my wife calls me on my cellphone. Knowing that we won't be able to hear each other in the gym, I told her to hang tight til I walk outside. So long story short, we spoke for about 5 minutes and then I went back to the Smith machine to finish where I left off. What do I find? A petite cutie about to perform squats on the machine after removing my plates and moving the seated bench. So I simply sat on the bench until she was finished but I guess she saw me in the mirror sitting behind her and she got pissed. She then grabbed her towel and walked away. Then I saw her on the other side of the gym and was doing shoulder exercises, rather than legs.:squint:

Lol thing is I didn't touch anyone's weights. I pretty much mind my business. It was another bro at gym. Who took the plates he blamed me and he is lucky I have good self control because it really pissed me off.
Thanks for input bro

That is him in a nutshell decent size guy who likes to hang out rather then getting it done. Ty bro

Ten minutes is a long time. I need to take fairly long rests b/t heavy sets on the leg press, but if I walke away I always mark my territory like Buf. What really pisses me off is the guys who want to use three or four set ups and plan to take 10 minutes b/t stations.

lol lifts that is the thing bro he wasn't even doing the heavy sets on leg press I was and it wasn't really heavy for me, I was talking to owner of gym tonight and the douche bag walked by and I laughed and owner said he is a complete tool that uses like almost 3 grams of gear and huge amounts of gh nonstop and is full of himself. the owner of gym is big powerlifter and uses very smart like most bros on here and is way stronger then this douche lol

or the guys that are super setting and using 5 or 6 equipment- I don't mind jumping in and stealing a set haha

10 mins is long... If I take a long break then I go to the water fountain, back to my machine, and put my head down and listen to tunes for a few mins

that is me in a nut shell bro lol

I avoid eye contact to prevent anyone from striking up a conversation. I want to hit it and get down!

Not going to lie. Im pretty level headed but if someone blames me for something I didnt do (like taking weights) I WILL say something to the liar. Thats just me though. Plus if the machine is not marked the weights are free game. I have a bottle and towel always with me so my spots if I have to leave are marked. I have said something to people moving my stuff to use the machine as well. I dont take super long breaks usually so the time away is usually a minute or so.
