For the ones who sacrificed and died before us. So many now I'm not sure I can count, so I'll start with one: my Uncle Fred, who helped a Priest hold a service in the field, (Netherlands, 1943) using a Jeep as an alter, then both were killed by a mortar, buried in the American Cemetary of the Netherlands. RIP Fred!

Here's my second, last, and most recent one; my older brother's son, Luke, was killed rappelling out of a helicopter into a gun fight just 4 years ago. When I called my brother a few months ago he reminded me of Luke's birthday then said, "He would just be 23 now!" Damn! Survived by a daughter to his wife. RIP Luke, you are remembered with honor!

Yes..please pause to think about why it is that we have this holiday...very important...
