I was chit-chatting with a guy in the gym, and we started talking nutrition, and we both agreed on two key principles which were - high protein intake & consistant (every 2-3 hr) protein intake - but we approached it differently. My approach has been Tri-O-Plex bars and Tuna. His seems much mroe favorable though...

He mix'es about a 3/4 of a liter of applejuice and 5 scoops of protein in a 2 liter bottle, and drinks it throughout the early day, and mixes another 2 scoops in 32 oz'es of a crystal light-like product and drinks that throughout the end of the day. (Carb limiting a night)

Do you guys mix your protein in juices and crystal light products and keep them unrefrigerated throughout the day? Any thoughts on this? I'm considering giving it a go, but I don't want to be the only one besides the other nut bag, lol.

(Oh, of course, those 120-140 grams of protein are nothing but "Extra" on top of a diet of 250-300 grams of protein through whole foods, so don't think this was a cheat way to skip eating.)

I was told the protein doesnt hold well sitting there all day long. I could be wrong. I Take my protein thru supps before and after workouts.

On off days, i take one shake in the am and try to get the rest of my intake thru foods such as lean meats/cottage cheese/eggs etc..

If you want to get protein in every 2 hours, why not just add more protein to yor meals? Save the supplemental protein for before and after training?

A guy that I know who is one of the better NPC BB'ers from the area during cutting phase mixes 350 grams pro complex in a gallon milk jug with water and carries it along with him throughout the day. He has been doing this for years. My schedule allows to me eat pretty much anytime I want so I haven't the need.

First off I would ditch the Tri o Plex bars. Please don't make me explain why. What he does, is what alot of guys do, look at the guy does it look like it works for him. That is how you can really tell.

I personally have never tried this, applesauce is to much of a simple carbohydrate for me anyway. When I actually use protein powders I mix with either milk or water, and as I'm sure you know you don't want that sitting out all day.

But like BSD said, does it look like it works for that guy? Usually seeing is believing! Good luck! :)

All that you need to do is look at disclaimers on legit sites that sell the bogus fuckers.

Ditch the TRI-O-PLEX, huh? Sorry, but in my experience they have been a GREAT asset to my nutritional plan, and I highly doubt I would ditch them completely unless you were to tell me they contained a poison of some sort, lol. They've been just about a staple for 2 years or so now.... But at $2.10 a pop... eh.

That having been said, I mixed a few scoops of my whey into some applejuice today. It stayed pretty well for about 3-4 hours, after that it was gone, lol. It really does taste good.... What concerns might there be in this trial? What would you think the shelf life would be of these drinks - one with a simple carb, and one without - in an unrefridgerated state?

PS - Lifts... there's fake tri-o-plex out there? That's just sad.

If you cant keep them refrigerated, id use at least something that is thermo insulated to keep it cold longer. I really don't go for the drinking it all day thing. I take the protein shakes for breakfast and post workout or at mid-day. It can't hurt anything by trying it tho. I ditched the bars awhile back, but i admit they did become a convenience in tight squeezes.

There not fake just severely mis-labled. I assumed that everyone knew that.

Apparently I missed the boat someplace. Was there a series of tests to confirm that? Can you point me in the direction of them??

:ugh:

Do a search on anabolex.com after doing more checking I'm not 100% convinced, damn things sure do taste good though. Bulk nutrition used to have a false lable disclaimer up to.

i would love to do this but then the milk is sitting around and getting nasty..unless everything you do is in a good range of distance from you to keep that milk form getting bad

No one that I know of mixes protein with milk when cutting. Common sense would dictate not to let milk sit out all day anyhow.

I tihnk he was just using the milk jug, not the milk. At first I thought Lifts meant he was using the milk, but I don't think that's the case...

Anyway, I modified my "Jug O' Protein" drink today to something a bit more sound and beneficial.

16oz of Applejuice (56 grams of Simple Carbs)
32oz of Self-Brewed Unsweetened Green Tea (6 bags)
6 Scoops of Whey Concentrate (138 grams of Protein)

It tastes like a Vanilla Apple Tea, really really good! Going on it's 5th hour now - no problems as far as taste or anything. I guess 56 grams of simple carbs over an 8 hour period is acceptable - or much more so than 6 cups of applejuice would be anyways... and I suppose something could be said for introducing simple carbs with protein (insulin wise).

This might turn out to be a tasty, cost effective solution for a constant protein source that you can basically have with you anywhere, in just about any line or work I would imagine. :) Makes me wish I would have heard about it a few years ago...

Tri-O-Plex a great asset to your nutrition plan..WTF? well then I obviously can't help you. I told you to ditch them and you want to clown me, shit bro, whens the last time you got on stage or put someone on stage that placed highly in a National show.

ROFL - this has got to be a joke. You want to turn this into a "Who's done what" game? Illogical, inmature, UNRELATED, but Ok...

On any other day, I might just say that you obviously took something the wrong way and I meant no insult. They have been used in my nutritional plan for a few years and have *WORKED* in terms of supplying me with a reasonably easy source of complex carbs and protein. I'm not sure what you've heard about them, but I have nothing but good things to say from my personal experience. If you had an information counter to that, I would be open to seeing it out of curiosity. You've not given me any of those specifics from before, but I would have loved to have heard them...

This isn't any other day.... and since you want to be a dick, when was the last time you've squated well over 800lbs for 3, and have shown others how to add substantial weight (200lbs+) to their 1RM squats and deads in very short periods of time (4-6 months)? I suppose you squat 900lbs Every Other Day for 20 sets, but that of course has to be since you DON'T eat Tri-O-Plex bars. LOL.

That having been said, I don't waste time "Clowning" people with poor attitudes who jump to defensive conclusions, such as yourself. By replying in the manner you did, you've made it perfectly clear what your attitude and insecurities are.... like anyone that might disagree with you in even the slightest way when most logical, level headed adults just walk away.... kind of like what I'm doing now... lol.
