For the past few days. I have been puking and shitting. I was really weak this morning after not being able to hold anything down. I don?t have Covid but a nasty intestinal virus has been going. They gave me a Librium malox cocktail. That worked I ate a large salad and spaghetti and meatballs. Some chocolate chip cookies. The blood work came back and indicated kidney failure from dehydration. So they are keeping me a few days.

Hoping for a speedy recovery! Seems odd that you would allow yourself to get that dehydrated. I mean we are the type of people known to carry a gallon of water just to go to the gym. Lol

It was from puking non stop for nearly 36 hours. As soon as I would drink some Gatorade or water I would puke it out.

Ouch man, that really is rough and had something like that ages ago...not pleasant at all.

Damn, I hope you don't lose too much weight. That's always the worst part of it  :D

I got home Sunday in time to watch football, I fell asleep during the Rams Game though.
I had bad inflammation in my intestine which led to acute kidney injury. I had two pretty painful days but once the medicine kicked in I recovered fast. I had X-rays and a cat scan no evidence of cancer or anything wrong. I have to do a follow up with a GI specialist because this the third bout I have had with this in 5 or 6 years.

LiftsIron, if this has happened before, then you may also want to look into celiac disease. With me it started with severe and painful gastrointestinal issues, throwing up, and skin rashes. By the time I realized it was the gluten causing all my problems the autoimmune attack had occurred. That rendered my pancreas and thyroid gland useless, turning me into a late onset type 1 diabetic

Thank you. That is something that I never thought of.
I will definitely ask to have that looked into when I see
The specialist.

What was your gfr and your urea creatine levels? I'm now at the door of stagev4 ckd. GFR of 31. They are telling me diet control can help. Less potassium in my case.

How's your situation now Lifts? Hopefully you are on the mend by now. If you hate drinking plain water maybe some pedialyte or Propel can help maintain hydration.

I'm not sure of the GFR or creatine levels, I had high potassium and calcium levels though. I go in for complete bloodwork tuesday the 7th and will get a printout sent to me.

Good luck on that bro. They'll look at your gfr, your urea albumin, creatine levels and potassium/ sodium. With high potassium your kidneys are not filtering as they should. Dialysis would suck, especially if it could be avoided.

Because of the dehydration I was in acute kidney failure. My kidneys are supposed to be back to 100 percent.

Dam Lifts! Glad your feeling better. Hope you figure out what’s going on.

I seen my primary yesterday. She said that it was a viral inflammation of the intestines that was what caused it. Okay

Sounds rough and hopefully once you get that resolved then your kidneys should recover (at least to some extent). When I had a stomach bug some years back I kept drinking water to stay hydrated...even forced myself to drink it.

After getting six bags of iv fluid in two days my kidneys were back to 100 percent according to the doctor.
