Instinctive training..

Many pro trainers have said one should train instinctively. My personal belief is that instinctive training is "wrong". When I see 300 plus pounds on the bar, my instincts tell me to take a day off. My point is, we can label any training idea or theory any words we want to, but the bottom line is, are we getting stronger? Are we continuing to get more muscle mass and leaner? Is this a routine that I can live with for a really LONG LONG time on a nearly everyday basis? Lets not try to overstate the obvious. Are these trainers who are popping up with all of this newfound knowledge big themselves? Are these guys 275? 325? 375? Do not be decieved my friends, keep it simple and do not fall for shortcuts or the newest training "ban wagon" seen in some muscle mag or on a website.. Lift heavy in good form, eat "healthy", don't overdo the gear, and you will grow accordingly. We cannot all be 275 pounds, nor should we be due to health factors. If you continually use a flat head screw driver on a screw with a phillips head, it will eventually strip out. You need to write things down, observe whats going on in the mirror, chart your progress, try cutting, adding, do whatever you can do to see what works for you. "EXPERIMENT". Just because a muscle mag or book says something, doesn't mean that it is true because they often make up the pros' routines. Just because someone here at premier muscle says so, including myself, doesn't mean that it is the right path for you. Discussing various workout-diet-drug theories is very intriguing but the best advise will always be your own.

I hope everyone finds that path that fulfills their dreams. :)

the time i did stop to read mags is the time i stopped to always be unsure about what i was doing at the gym !

when i went to cali , in 95 , i saw a few pro off season anf the way they really train and eat , and , surprise , it was not really what was said in the mags !

The muscle rags are a joke. They have more ads than articles and most won't work for the average person. I've been of the belief that every person is different. Just because one method works for one person doesn't mean it works for you. These things we all learn over time. i talk to guys at this gym and i am amazed at what they say. No one takes the time to learn the basics. they want to get big fast and with the least effort. It ain't going to happen! Look at these home gym and workout books that are being hawked on TV. They show before and after pics of this guy or broad who looked like a water bullaloe and now is slim and cut. all this happened on this machine or reading this book in 2 months! i can hear the stampede now of people running for the phone to order this only to let it lie collecting dust because the only thing they lost waas the cash.

We all hear guys doing over a gram of things twice a week. ask them what their work out routine is like and the answers are all fucked up if any comes at all. same concept. Here's an example of being so misinformed it ain't funny. i had a chat with this guy at the gym recently and we talked about deads. he asked me what the movement was that i used for bell lifts so i showed him which was squating down with hands at my sides since i would be using bells. he says that's not a dead lift! i simulated a bar dead and again he says that's not a dead! Now i get annoyed and ask him to show me the dead. he does a stiff leg movement with knees locked. i laughed and said that's a stiff leg done wrong. he then does the same movement to show me a SL but his feet are together. huh? this is only one of many if i even bother anymore.
