This extraordinary procedure is known as a ?martial law? rule because it suspends the normal procedures and safeguards and allows the House Leadership to operate in a more authoritarian fashion. It enables the Leadership to seek to ram a bill or conference report through before the Members have the opportunity to fully understand what they are voting on.

Although likely, there is still hope. Mass emails crashed the server at the house of reps. Phone lines and faxes have been rringing off the hook over the last several days. ALOT of elected officials are feeling pressure they have never felt before and are scared if they go against what their people want, in Nov, they will be out of a job. Never has there been such a backlash over a piece of legislation. The list of those who voted for this crap was online in seconds after the vote was done, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I still think it is going through, we are going to eat it. Either way, our country is screwed economically. We are done as "the" financial super power.
