While walking back to my classroom, a student ran up behind me in the hall yesterday and kicked me across the achilles knocking my right foot into the back of my left foot in attempt to trip me. When I caught my balance, I turned, he laughed and ran.
I filed a report but he'll only get a short suspension.
Of course, I'm the white guy so it must have been my fault.
Five years ago I almost broke that ankle, had it in a cast for 6 weeks, and got a longitudinal tear in the brevis tendon. (That's the one that runs down the outside of the calf, around the ankle and across the top of the foot.)
Four more months and a satisfactory rating to get my Instructional II Teaching Certification and have tenure.
I'm trying to relax, because after being a weightlifter for 25 years, my natural inclination is to destroy him. He's 15.
Suck it up and take some more, the shit I have to put up with...
