Was training flat bench today. Hit 560lbs for a clean hold then press rep. Racking the weight I felt a terrible pain in my left shoulder. I dropped the weight down to 475 and could only do two reps. Pushing the weight up was no problem but lowering the weight during the negative aspect of the rep, I had nothing. No support of the weight coming down, almost a free fall on the left side. I dropped it down to 225 just to see how bad it was and was able to do some reps but apparently the heavier weight was not happening after the 560 today.
Any thoughts on what this could be?

The supraspinatus is the top of the four shoulder support tendons running from the scapula to the humerus bone.
As this is most prone to injury, a strain or tear in this would prevent you from having negative strength in a pressing movement.
Are there any small bruises on the front delt or upper bicep (outer portion)?
Do you have any pain in the front part of your medial deltoid?
Does your shoulder hurt specifically while extending the arm while driving a car/truck?

Also do you hear any type of noise when pressing, Mines shot and pops real loud when pressing but does nothing when unlaoding.. Mine pops when delt is almost at ear level..

Old age bro! :p Sounds like could be the rotator cuff. If it was in the muscle, odds are you would feel it in on the positive part of the rep also. Go get it checked out. Why da f*ck would you even attempt another heavy rep after you felt that bad pain? The body sends us signals dude - gotta listen to them.

best idea go see what a doctor says if theres not swelling /. bruising chances are something isnt torn

weightlifting injuries are tricky because nothing else can produce that kind of stresses on the joints. my shoulders are shot from years of benching , i had a lot of scar tissue buid up and pretty limited range of motion in one of them , i was box squatting with 6 bills or so and as i came up we heard my shoulder pop like it snapped in half , my spotters tried to help but i had to dump the bar . the funny thing was after the initial hurt like hell phase left the pain left fast so i started moving the arm around testing it out and discovered my range of motion was way better than before . only explanation is i tore through the scar tissue lol.

imo in your case rest for a week with lost of controlled slow stretching IF you dont go to the doctor and have it checked.

I have had something similar to this in the past but never lost strength, just had the pain.
There is no popping or tearing sounds when I move it. There is no sign of visible bruising. I have OK range of motion. The pain seems to be below or under the muscle, not in the muscle itself from what I can tell.
As far as swelling I'm so big it's really hard to tell if anything is swollen or not. It always looks swollen.
I'll rest it up for a week or so and see what happens next week. I guess I'll focus on my squat strength the rest of this week.
