Lost motivation...

I been to the gym about 7-8 times in the past 3 months. :eek: All started when I went up north to visit family for a few weeks. Then came back and got the flu. Then a few weeks later went to Philippines. First time I have lost motivation to kick the iron in YEARS! Also playing a big role is my situation of being out of work and related stress. Usually in past, when stressed I always kicked the iron for an outlet. But I dunno...just lost it for some reason. I weigh now 250...down 20 pounds from October. :(

Anyways, hit the gym this past Mon...did chest and arms. Tues I did legs. OMG I am sooo fucking sore.lol :eek: Funny shit...I'm used to inclining 315 x 8...I got 275 x 4 Monday. :crying: But its expected...I know from past long-layoffs due to injury that muscle memory is remarkable and I'll be back to normal in 5-6 weeks of kicking it hard. ;) Oh well...off to hit shoulders...wish me luck with 185 on miliaries. :eek: :p
 
Good luck Hank! You'll be back in top form in no time. I know from experience that muscle memory is very real.
 
Still, 274x4 is respectable, especially after a layoff. Yeah those first work-outs back you feel strong but the soreness is a killer. I did chest on Tuesday, first workout in 5 weeks after getting stabbed in the arm. I felt good and did extra but can barely move today.
The other good thing about a layoff is when you start back, you can't lift as much and this lessens the stress on the joints, but you still get muscle stimulation.
Glad to hear you are back at it. You have been an inspiration for many including myself over the years.

You will be sitting around in a convalescent home in your old age (35) hobbling to and fro aimlessly bumping into walls.
Body bruised and being mistreated by all those around you.....

Just thinking about those days when I was one of the Strong, Proud .
The one who "HAD" the determination to get going when the going got tough, but alas ! I failed myself and my life is coming to an end .
You think deeply ... Life is to short to pause one moment, to give up on the thing that make me who I and.
You say to yourself..If I could only turn back the hands of time I would return to the day when I quit and start where I left off.
The clock goes tick, tick, tick , tick second by second minute by minute hour by hour day by day !

I'm glad that was only a nightmare.
Ya Know I do have the motivation to hit the iron .

I remember back during the IT days when i was new and weighed 160, I'd see the pics of the vets like you and it would give me the motivation and inspiration to train hard because i wanted to look like you guys.
