Thanks Hank. That was a great article. I was always fscinated by Mike Mentzer. Not as big as Dorian, but had a percectly balanced thick build with no weak points. Mike just had a charisma that made him stand out. Hard to believe he died so young.

BTW...Mike Mentzer was Wesley Silvera's (IronAddict) personal trainer when he was younger. IA said much of his training protocol was influenced by Mike's way of thinking.

I don't know why Mike would think only 1 set of front pulldowns is enuff work for the entire back wtf. Dorian was like fuck dat haha!

I found this interesting...

If I made one mistake, in regard to training, it was that -- despite being the arch-advocate of lesser training I was still overtraining.?

He then paused and winked at me as he said, ?I would do more in the gym than I said I did -- just for insurance."
----------------

I wonder just HOW much more he did.

Yep...I caught that too Hank. I prefer low volume/heavy weight, so I tried his one set to failure training style for a few months several years ago. It didn't give me the the same results as higher volume.

Mentzer books are always interesting. I bought all of them and you can literally see the decline of his ... well he went off his rocker a little bit. His recommendation of sets became less and less and more days off lol. It was like one workout a week.

He does have some really great information in his books if you filter out some of his stuff. Mentzer was a genetic freak. In my opinion some of the best biceps and triceps of his time.

I adopted the use of mike's pain staking slow negative's. I get a lot of weird looks in the gym when it takes me 30 seconds for a rep. And Dorian's back workout is crazy. Gave him his back though.
