Anybody ever torn a muscle or know of someone tearing a muscle during the negative part of an exercise? I'm not speaking of muscle breakdown when the micro-tears actually occur...as the negative part is when most of that occurs. I'm speaking of muscle tears as in injuries, blown pec, torn bi, etc. I peronally dont know anyone who has torn a muscle on the negative part...its always been on the concentric part.
I'm asking, as I'm thinking of adding in some heavy negative work occsacionally to try to break through some barriers. As most of you know, I'm unemployed now and have PLENTY of time to bust balls and recover...due to no hard-ass factory work anymore yaay! Hehe
Also, I can hit the gym now at a convenient time of day when theres enuff people so I always can have some spotters...which is a must for this gig. I have done my share of negatives in the past. However, I'm not 28 anymore and wanna make sure to go at it safe.
Btw, I'm not speaking of negatives with the same weight as a normal set...I'm speaking of HEAVY negatives after I do my normal shit. Example...my heaviest set on smith inclines is 365 for 4-5...so after that I will load the bar up to about 495 and do 1 set of negs...thats it...1 set all thats needed. I'll probably do 1 set of negs in that fashion for each bdwt once every 10-14 days and see what kinda results I get after a few months.
So any info, documents, links if any of you know about pertaining to muscle or tendon tears/injuries from eccentrics, holla pls.
Thx
