My childhood phone number was 987. No shit when I was a kid you would pick up the phone and an operator would say number please, just like Mayberry. My friend's family owned a grocery store where he worked his number at the store was 1. I was in my early teens before my dial phones were introduced in my area. My phone number was still 987.

I can beat that. I am so old that we didn't have a phone when I was a kid. No indoor plumbing either. :)

My grandparents had an outhouse as the only bathroom. We lived 6 houses away and had one. Town only had about 50 people. We had the party line phone and always carefully lifted the reciever to listen in on everyone's conversations. :)

I thought I was old cause when I was a kid when we didn’t dial area codes unless it was different. Kids these days don’t even know what an area code is. Lol. We had the kitchen phone with the 30ft cord so u could take it in the living room for privacy. Your a dinosaur Lifts! Lol

was it one of those coiled phone cords?
We used to have the old rotary dial phone on our kitchen wall with one of those super long cords but with all the knots and tangles, it only stretched about ten feet

same here and when you dialed it took 4 minutes for it to get back so you could dial again

Yes! Exactly! Lol. But wasn?t rotary. I do remember those as well. Like in the principles office. Lol

I remember when I was a little kid my grandma had what is known as a "party line" which is a phone line shared by multiple households (she lived in a 3 family house). It was something...

Back in the day I could remember 30 phone numbers in my head. I think the air/sea/land was cleaner then. Our phone number from 1968 was 3934.
