Rode to work on the motorcycle today, as usual, (even in the rain). Temperature was 39 degrees and frost was on the road, but I was fine. Last year I rode until Thanksgiving and then started again when school started the third week of January. Spend Holiday Seasons with the family, that's what I do.
Funny how I never see the shined-up "chrome-ettes" out when harsh weather hits. Posers in their wife beater shirts and turtle helmets. I guess their leathers are only good to "hang out" in. They probably spend their winters in their heated garages shining chrome and polishing up their "Big Dog Manny-bikes." They sure look tough as they arrive when warm weather strikes again, all posed out like they are really tough. Posers, hmph!
Rugged is dealing with conditions (hardships, delays, set-backs) to get to your goal/objective. I have dealt with these limitations for decades and strive on; still being successful despite the constant barrage of negative response from the "peanut gallery." I am rugged and deal with icy roads and frigid riding conditions on a regular basis. I ride with my face shield partially open to allow the cold air to keep my face full of fresh air and keep the shield and glasses fog-free. I ride over the ice and wet leaves with balance fit for the distance. I handle the tough road, and have for years. Contrary what some may think, I am more of a man then most of you will ever know.
I only see one other rider on the road on a regular basis. He rides a 650 street/dirt bike, wears appropriate gear, always waves, and is also rugged enough as an individual to ride in inclement conditions on a regular basis. I respect him.
Yeah, the posers in their warm vehicles, all snug and puffing away in their muscle shirts, don't forget the Mothers Chrome Polish.
I haven't cleaned my bike in over a year, although I spend top dollar keeping it running like a top. Let it ride...
