Post Workout Carbs..

What do you use for PWO, and why? I used to be a die hard fan of Dextrose PWO, because of the high insulin response it causes, but that also had it's draw backs. There was a much greater chance for me to have a spill over with the dex (since I workout out in the PM), then using something like oatmeal(flavored). I switched it up cutting up this time around, and it made a huge difference since I have no carb cut off on training days (PM workout). I will continue to use it when I head into bulking. It's the only way to go for me now :) What's in your PWO shake ;)..
 
I do two servings of whey along with 2 packs flavored oats. I sometimes throw in a piece of fruit or somthing.

nice...it always has worked ok for me. Its nothing special but I think it works well. I usually have mine 15-30 minutes PWO, along with some glutamine
 
Have you guys dump your PWO dex all together ?

and I have a question: I thought apples had fructose that would be quickly absorbed by the liver and not good as a post workout carb?
 
I tossed it all together, I may use a combo and see how that works, but the idea here is your body will use whatever type of carb when it needs it. After your workout, your body is in need, high insulin or not, your body will take in them carbs..
 
I ditched dextrose completely.........and personally, I think it has helped in the fatloss dept
 
I ditched it as well, actually I never have done it. Lots of people do it. During this time I am doing fruit or something to the equivalent. When I am dieting I usually stick to the oats or other low gly carbs, mainly cause i'm trying to get as lean as possible. But on occasion I will consume one small pear PWO during precontest. Its the lowest on the gly index for fruits plus its high in fiber.

I do 3 serving whey (66g) and a cup of oats and a cup of strawberries. :headbange
 
at one point I was having 75g of protein with 175 grams of Dextrose PWO!!! talk about not being carb sensetive lol..

Damn that sounds good. I wouldnt mind having that right now!!! ........lol
 
you know I could pretty much get rid of all types of carbs and stick to oatmeal and love it! some BSL flavoring mixed in while it's hot and it's like cheating every meal lol...any who that was off the subject a bit..
 
yep me too buff, I think for 4 weeks now all I have had for carbs has been oats.........now my birthday is next wed.......I am having some cake damnit!
