Protein and A.M. Cardio

Does anybody drink a preworkout shake, with only protein, when doing cardio on an empty stomach? I have heard that is helps reduce the amount of muscle lost.
 
when i do early am cardio i always have a shake first... give the body some fuel so it dont feed entirely off itself
 
i do empty stomach cardio as soon as i wake up THEN eat breakfast.. the emptier your stomach the better. if you keep your HR low it will just burn fat and not muscle
 
well i have been doing interval cardio. Keeping my heart rate in the target range and then going all out for a minute making my heart rate go out of my target range. Do you think a shake would be beneficial for interval training?
 
probably a good idea. HIIT can be not so good on a totally empty stomach
 
Yeah, BCAA are a great pre-AM workout option. Like you were thinking, BCAA or protein will be important to prevent muscle catabolism before AM cardio; this is especially true before intervals.
