Scuba Diving

What experiences do people have with scuba diving?

I suck with water but I really want to learn to scuba dive so I can still say I kicked waters ass. That and if I go on vacation it seems like something fun to do.

I'm going to see where I can register for a class and where I can get my open water license too. I live in Wisconsin so most places around here suck for diving. I'd like to get done with my class cert and then go to the gulf to get my open water certification.

Just wondering what people think of it.

Actually all I have to get is a mouth piece and possibly a the head gear. My friend has all the rest of the gear that he said I can borrow. So I'll spend maybe $100 to $200.

And Black I think I'll try just walking around in full gear in AZ looking for those good beaches. I'm sure I'll find them someday lol

If you suck in water, the hardest part about getting certified will be the swimming and treading water (for me it was 5 laps followed immediately by a 10 minute water tread). For the average person it's no problem, but for dense, muscular builds treading water is a bitch - I sink like a stone.

over in ELIA KEY..we got some killer spots on our GPS...we go lobstering when season comes around..but our main thing is hog or grouper...

by the way..we spear fish..got a couple slings but dont do it to much since we stay around 15-30 feet deep waters

Ah, you must be in Florida. I thought we might have an Hawaiian braddah in here. Thats cool though, I love florida. Haven't been there in 12 years or so but I had a blast when I was there.

Sorry flatlandbmx, not trying to hyste your thread. Anyway I see used scuba gear here all the time complete with tank for under $400.00 on craigslist.

you know it bro..i live in miami..we go down to the keys and shit all the time..love the spear fishing down here..would love to go to hawaii n try it out bro..

we get some shark encounters here..i can imagine down there..lol..

how deep you free dive??

You should come down and kick it. I'm on the Big Island though and the fricken volcano has been spewing out some shit lately. The trade winds finally picked up again yesterday and blew some of the crap outta here. But for 4 weeks we barely saw the sun.
Not many sharks out here. We have way less people though. I've only had one encounter with a tiger and I was on a kayak. He was in the shallows at Kealakekua Bay. No worries though he didn't even act like he knew I was there.

15-20 feet for me brah. My ears can't take it anymore.

hah..same here bro..my ears are shot any deeper than that..yea i have a couple encounters with sharks here and there..a couple have circled me..n i poked the shit out of there nose with the tip of these spear..that always seems to work..we see alot of nurse sharks around but they dont seem to bother..

the cudas around here are the little fukers that seem to worry me

Yep considering I walk around at about 6% bf so me and floating don't get along well.

To other posts shit on craigslist has aids lol. I remember on mmx we had a post up the screwed up sex ads on craigslist. That was hilarious.

people around here rent shit all the time, snorkle and scuba. If you use the stuff the rental stores use to clean I'm sure you wont catch the aids from a used reg. it's called Sterisol Germicide.
