for those of you who are parents this is especially important - take the time to check your area

just go to "search" and punch in your state name and then sex offenders - for example - WI sex offenders

this will bring up your state and then you can do a detailed search by name or zip code - you may be surprised how many are in your community

please take the time to be aware

the wife checked out these website a few months back to find one living about 5 houses down in my cul de sac.... funny thing is the guy was always so nice and always offered a hand when i was doing any kind of projects to the house....seemed like a genuine guy....you just never know.....

that is scary as hell

remember that sex offense crimes can range from rape/sodomy - heinous crimes, to 'statutory rape' (IE found out she was under 18, how many of us would be in trouble for that one in the past), indecent exposure (IE could be a flasher or just some guy taking a leak in public) etc..
So you should know the crime before you judge the person.

There are about 25 in my area, we have Megan's Law in effect here. 3 were probation violators.

a little touchy subject huh???:D

I'm sure, when you were 17 or 18, all your girlfriends were over, huh?
Now, granted, most guys in this category are pervs (lewd acts with a minor under 16, what does that mean?) or serious criminals.
But I stopped on the side of the road to piss, at night, deserted rural highway, and a cop pulls over and threatens to give me an "indecent exposure" charge if I did it again. I'm talking other side of the car, door open, in the V, not visible to anyone. Now an "indecent exposure" charge gets you a "sex offender" label in a lot of states. So you should definitley see what the charge is before you worry about the guy.
