Stepson 2nd place HS powerlifting nationals again

my stepson Jackson..he's sophomore just turned 16 and placed 2nd (2nd year in a row 2nd) at high school powerlifting nationals in NOLA yesterday...lost by 10lbs to a senior that outweighed him by 13lbs..finished with 529squat (misses 1 attempt), 325 bench, and 540 deadlift in varsity 242 raw non equipped division...next up FBU showcase football camp at edgewood College this Saturday!!!

Thats awesome, I wish my school competed in powerlifting when I was in High School. It has it now, but it was a couple years after I graduated.

That is awesome man congrats to him! Funny thing I was just talking to a new kid in the gym tonight on a local HS PL team. He's 17, and I know a lot of the kids that go to his HS who compete on the PL team. I also know the PL coach very well - we used to hit it together. Anyways, I ask this kid how he placed in the state finals (OH). He said he got 8th, with a 500 squat, 485 dead and 245 bench. He acknowledged that his bench is very weak. He's a big kid - 265 & around 5'11, but he sure does have a lot of bodyfat on him. He said he has lost 100 lbs, so that's a great stride forward for health.

Anyways, congrats again to your son dude!
