Target heart range

Is it true that if you are doing cardio that makes your heart rate go higher than your target heart range you stop burning fat and begin burning you glycogen?
 
i know that it will condition your heart more.. and you'll burn alot less fat if you get your heart rate up higher... mine is 118 to burn fat and cardo is 132..
 
So let me get this right. If i want to burn fat don't workout as hard as you can? My target heart rate is 106 to 151. Yesterday my heart rate was about 165. This concept confuses me, because you are burning more calories when you workout harder so why wouldn't you want to go as hard as you can?
 
However at higher heart rate you will stroke your metabolism for a much longer period of time. So while you will burn less fat while on the treadmill you will however continue to burn more fat up to 48 hours after you stop the treadmill. However intense cardio may be something you want to avoid if you are on a very low carb diet as it will attack muscle tissue by converting protein into carbs. They both work, but in completely different ways.
 
ah i see. Well right now i'm doing a lean bulking cycle, what kinda cardio should i do to put on lean mass?

This is true with intense weight training with cardio the more fit you are the faster you recover. To maximize fat burning and minimize muscle burning do cardio after weight training and stay within 60-65% max heart rate, their should be a chart in your gym to determine these %.

It may not make sense but yes, this holds true for maximizing results imo. Instead of killing yourself for 30min on the treadmill, a lower intensity 60min approach is better. I try to keep mine under 130 to preserve muscle and maximize fat loss.

HIT IT ON THE FUCKIN HEAD..

The type of cardio u should perform it depends on your diet. Like my Hamas friend here stated above..if youre following a low or 0 carb diet you should avoid high intensity cardio at all costs..it will up all that precious muscle.

well what if i was only going to do cardio for 30 min? I should still try to keep my heart rate in the target range? Also, if your supposed to keep your heart rate in a particular range to burn fat how does interval training work?

You burn fat regardless what range your HR is, but if your HR
goes to high you also burn muscle as fuel.

again ..it's all depends on your diet
