What are your picks for the six most basic exercises, and what twists have you added to one or all?
 
deadlifts above all else transformed my physique over the years and added thickness that can only be had by doing the dirty work..
 
chins, bench, squat, leg press, shoulder press
 
the big three:

squat
bench
deadlift

the next 3 are also pretty important:

upside down reverse db press

laying side leg raises

standing glute thrusts
