Tilapia - I have finally discovered it!
And learned how to cook it, lol.

What's a good reasonably condiment for it after being baked?
 
Agreed. Condiments depends on you man. If youre in show prep or getting ready for one I would suggest Lemon. If not you can get creative with it. I use organic non sweetened ketchup. Or mustard.
 
man you can use almost any condiment you want as long as you use it in moderation. You dont have to limit yourself to just lemon because u are cutting lol. Most people will season it with No sodium Ms. Dash which is what I usually go with and then if I want a condiment I will use Franks or Siracha. But like bass said you will tire of it pretty quickly. Cod is good and I even do orange roughy sometimes as well.
 
i like to use a low sodium soy sauce... but mrs dash is always g2g.. you can put it on just about anything.. a little dill goes a long way too
 
Bass - Thanks bought some frozen Cod and will check it out.

Oz - was a bitch finding ranch powder but found it - Hidden Valley - gonna try it.
 
Tilapia is inexpensive and tasty...my daughter Sarah loves it.

But, unlike Salman, Tuna and Cod; Tilapia is very high in Omega 6 fatty acids and very low in Omega 3. Cod is not only tastier, but much, much better for you and Cod doesn't contain the high ratio of pollutants found in Tilapia either. I stick strickly with Salmon, Tuna and Cod, Salmon being the highest in both protein quality and beneficial EFAs.

But man with bulking I found tilipia is cheapest, then cod and then salmon. Salon is probably my fave but Lordy is it pricey.

yea, he makes a great point... there are fish that are much more beneficial

Tilapia is always great if it's not farm raised somewhere in Asia. Look at the label.
It's like the difference in a steak from a 15 year old cow and one from a 15 month old grain feed steer...
 
One of my favorites

Tilapia Vera Cruz

Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 1 tilapia fillet and ? cup sauce).

4 (6-ounce) tilapia fillets
Cooking spray
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cups chopped onion
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 garlic clove, minced
? cup water
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
2 tablespoons chopped pitted green olives
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon capers
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chiles, undrained


1. Preheat oven to 400?.
2. Place fish in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray.
3. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion; saut? 3 minutes. Add cumin and garlic; saut? 1 ? minutes. Add water and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 3 minutes or until slightly thick. Pour tomato mixture over fish.
4. Bake at 400? for 15 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork.

The salt content may be too high for you to use this during contest prep
