Got the results back from the MRI of my shoulder.
I've never had shoulder problems.
This is greek to me. Somebody help explain how bad this is.
Maybe include a link to an appropriate anatomy pic.
Here's what she wrote:
1) RTC tendinosis c partial thickness
-supraspinatus tear
2) Circumferencial labral tear

Anybody have any experience with these sorts of injuries?

guessing RC stands for rotator cuff which consists of the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis and teres minor. That is in order of decending from the top of the shoulder down.
The supraspinatusruns across top of your shoulder just behind your clavicle before diving underneath at the joint and attaching on the outside part of your humerus.

Labral tear is a tear of where the muscles attach in the shoulder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SLAP_tear

I have no idea how long you'll be out, or what surgery/treatment is required, but hopefully you at least know what is wrong now.

i have had a SLAP tear for 5 years now. If its something you can work through avoid surgery i would say.. What made you get the MRI? is the pain bad or is it very non funcional?

work is involved so getting things documented. and of course, you gotta get yourself checked out.

Damn bro that sucks...sorry to hear. That teeny bopper put a whoopin' on yo ass dayum! Hope you heal quick.

Actually, when I slammed the student down my left hand was holding the right wrist. As I landed my left shoulder went back as they had a straight arm. Should have left that shit hole years ago.
Two assaults in 3 years and now both shoulders are fucked.

It depends on the severity of the tears often you can work around them and they will. heal. I'm waiting to get an MRI to see how severe of a rotator cuff tear I have in my shoulder. It's been hurting like a bitch for month now, but seems be getting somewhat better with the anti inflammatory mobic.

Are you experiencing when you wash your hair. your arm will kind of lock? A laberal tear will get worse and be painful. Normally you will get these if you go super heavy on incline bench. I tore mine using 120 lb. dumbbells. They can scope it and therapy isn't any longer than 6 weeks. O' and the labrum is two thin layers of skin (cartilage) basically that are between the ball joint (one is actually on the ball and one is in the socket, which looks similar to a hip socket). and socket. It's extremely tough, but over time and heavy weight at certain angles can cause it to tear into. Also pinch into really..

Suprasin@@@@ whatever is the muscle at the top of your deltoid. Slight tears can be caused be calcium buildup (spurs) that actually tear into the muscle/tendon.. Therapy at times can get you by, but you will eventually have to have what is known as a subacramial debrebment (my spelling is great). A debrement is where the go in and file down the spurs. I wont lie. I hurts like a motheF@@@ker!!! The reason I bring the debrevment up is. most doctors will fixed the tear then see you back in a few years to clean off the spurs. Job security!!

I hope this helps and my knowledge comes from four shoulder surgeries.....

I wish you the best!

Good answer, Hommie.

Great, just great, and all this will be done in time for me to return to work following Labor Day, right?

Don't know what kind of work you do so can't say.. Seriously the Labrum is easy to repair, but my sureon is one of the best in the world. He has down Butterbean, Evander Hollyfields, Bret Favre and I can't count the college soccer/football/basketball players he's done. Had Bret Favre back on the field and in practice in 4 weeks with a severe tear. I love the guy!!! BUT, the best surgeon in the world can't get you to work quicker. The physical therapist can. My son now wants to be a thearapist seeing how well they have worked on mine. If I can help in anyway bro, be more than happy too. It isn't the end of the world but you have to start therapy right away and go as many times as they require.. That alone will get you back in the gym faster.

I would ask your doctor does he see any calcium (spurs) buildup in your MRI. That maybe what caused the slight tear to begin with.

Good luck bro,

Is Mobic a prescription med?
