There's a few guys I stay in contact with via email that have retired here in the Philippines and lived here for some time. I have yet to meet any of them in real as they live far from me. Nice to know these guys so I can pick their brains about situations here if needed.
One of the guys is 71 y.o. He's lived here for about 2 years. Keep in mind there are many beggars here being a poor country - many kids approaches foreigners asking for a few pesos. Well, this old guy out of the goodness of his heart has always thrown them a few pesos when they see him on the street. One of them is a 13 y.o girl. She was very poor, always wearing the same dirty rags for clothes everyday.
The situation escelated where she came knocking on his door asking for food. He obliged. This went on for a couple months. It finally grew to where he let her in his house and he cooked her a full course meal. Big fucking mistake! After she left, about 2 hours later, the cops show up and take him to the police station. He was totally dumbfounded and didn't have a clue of what was going on. Come to find out, the girl accused him of molesting her! He said the cops believed he didn't really do it, but that the girls mom was so irate, that they must press action. They gave him a choice - go to jailor pay the mom 10,000 pesos (about $250). They said if he paid the mom, all charges would be dropped. He hated to do it as it looked like an admittance of guilt, but after talking to an attorney, it seemed his only fast way out. Otherwise he could be sitting in a shithole of a jail for God knows how long until the truth was proven. Sooo, longer story short, he paid the money and was let go and charges dropped. The guy was merely trying to help a poor person out of the goodness of his heart and got reamed! I talked to him after things died down and he said he still see's the mom and daughter on the bus occasionally, and the mom will just look at him and smile. It was a setup by the mom and he knows it - 10,000 pesos is 2 months salary to her. Just wrong! :flamingma
I must say that for a guy who has lived here for 2 years, he was naive and stupid as fuck to let that happen. He should have known about how this is NOT the USA, and corruption runs rampant. The kids will hit me up every now and then we they see me walking to the gym. I just look ahead and don't lose a stride and say "pasenya, wala pera" (sorry, no money). Yeah it sucks to see how poor they are, but I know if I throw them a few cents, they will be hitting me up every time they see me in the future. It's worked well - they rarely hit me up anymore.
One last thing - bodybuilding has helped my situation here I believe in more ways than one. What I mean is, most foreigners/retirees here are old, fat and out of shape. Myself, while a little old now at 47
p) still am jacked. I don't mean jacked as in gear, but as in physical presence. While I'm not 275 anymore like when I was ON, I am 230 and hard even being OFF for over a year. While I haven't touched a tape measure in years, I'm betting my guns are still close to 20. From the looks I get, I know there is an intimidation factor there that prevents me from being hit up anywhere near as close as I would if I were some fat, out of shape looking fuck.lol I think I get alot of respect from all the security guards (everywhere here - with shotguns lol) and cops as many of them kick it in the gym and see the weights I move and how hard I hit it. Soooo, thank God for the iron!
Sorry for the book - just wanted to share.
