lately watching the news I noticed the headlines "lewis hamilton wins the Formula 1 championship, first afro-caribbean ever in history to win" and "Barack Obama is president of the U.S.A, first african american president in history" yet both of these men have a black father and white mother. in my belief this makes them neither black nor white. they are mixed background. only thing that would make them more one than the other I would think is if the parents were split up and the child was raised in the culture of one more then the other. take Obama for instance, he was raised mostly by his mother, he went to major white universities, he speaks as a white man. so why do we call him african american. the day a man is elected who as a black mother and black father, well that is a black man. this kinda disturbs me, is his white half not as signifigant as his black? mentions his father alot and kenya and his relatives on that side, but no mention f what state his mothers from, where her parents came from etc. same thing is noted with Lewis Hamilton the F1 driver. if I raise a son,in the culture of my Irish forefathers, and he becomes famous one day. well that boy is mine, I am white, how comes he's not white enough for mention? serously I didnt even know anything abouts Obama's white mother till I went to look it up myself. I think this is prejudice against both black and white
your calling a man black who isnt black, he is both and your totally ignoring the white heritage of man of mixed race. if everytime a child is born mixed they call him a member of the darker half than in 20 years where do whites stand? and can blacks or latinos really celebrate theyre history when by that point its only half of theyre culture, maybe even less? White Pride is wrong I'm told, because theyre a majority and its suppressing minorities to hear it. yet we have a mixed president whose white history itself is suppressed from mention. is it okay to say I'm proud of my european heritage?
I dont like being ignored, suppressed or swept under the rug anymore than anyone else.

That's my point in the other thread. I don't look at Tiger Woods as a black golfer. I see him as someone who is probably the best golfer ever. Just like I think Michael Jordan was the best basketball player ever who happens to be black. But Obama got tons of votes not because he was a great anything (except speaker of the words hope and change) but only because of the color of his skin.

They always take the race of the father and since most white men know better, it will more than likely always be that way. At least I've seen that with most cases. Only exception I know of is Lenny Kravitz..........

Im sooo sick of hearing all the talk about how he is black too.. who cares for god sakes.. I almost puked when i saw them all on tv crying and dancing around after they anounced that he won.. Why the hell was opera there being interviewed.. And they showed the clown Jessey Jackson.. What a joke I hope all the people that voted for Obama are happy

The day that white people start acting white again and stopped trying to adapt to other cultures is the day we starting becoming a great nation again. Music, clothes, speech, my God it's wonder it took this long to vote one in office. There's nothing wrong with living in harmony with one another but that doesn't mean we (white americans) have to except their standard of life and rebuke ours.......

Obama recently took time off in the last week of his presidential campaign to go to Hawaii to see his dying white grandmother who he credits with raising him and molding his character. While most of the media refers to him as black he refers to himself as biracial. Today on the news he referred to himself as a 'mutt".
