lately watching the news I noticed the headlines "lewis hamilton wins the Formula 1 championship, first afro-caribbean ever in history to win" and "Barack Obama is president of the U.S.A, first african american president in history" yet both of these men have a black father and white mother. in my belief this makes them neither black nor white. they are mixed background. only thing that would make them more one than the other I would think is if the parents were split up and the child was raised in the culture of one more then the other. take Obama for instance, he was raised mostly by his mother, he went to major white universities, he speaks as a white man. so why do we call him african american. the day a man is elected who as a black mother and black father, well that is a black man. this kinda disturbs me, is his white half not as signifigant as his black? mentions his father alot and kenya and his relatives on that side, but no mention f what state his mothers from, where her parents came from etc. same thing is noted with Lewis Hamilton the F1 driver. if I raise a son,in the culture of my Irish forefathers, and he becomes famous one day. well that boy is mine, I am white, how comes he's not white enough for mention? serously I didnt even know anything abouts Obama's white mother till I went to look it up myself. I think this is prejudice against both black and white
your calling a man black who isnt black, he is both and your totally ignoring the white heritage of man of mixed race. if everytime a child is born mixed they call him a member of the darker half than in 20 years where do whites stand? and can blacks or latinos really celebrate theyre history when by that point its only half of theyre culture, maybe even less? White Pride is wrong I'm told, because theyre a majority and its suppressing minorities to hear it. yet we have a mixed president whose white history itself is suppressed from mention. is it okay to say I'm proud of my european heritage?
I dont like being ignored, suppressed or swept under the rug anymore than anyone else.
