I sorta feel like doing something simple like preacher curls will take care of most of the major muscule groups involving hammer curls anyways, its just when you hammer curl w/ your palms facing in you use the forearms a little more.

Hammer curls place undue stress on the elbow and I never do them or skullcrushers either one.

I dont do Hammer curls....however i do do SkullCrushers, just need to have good teqnique, ive always loved them............Z

i can do hammer curls fine but i cant due skull crushers skull crushers hurt my elbow to much

someone corrrect me if im wrong but i think hammer curls work your "brachialis" more. i may be naming the wrong muscle but i think that is right. regardless i think they do more to actually "widen" your bicep where preacher curls really build on peak of the bicep. if u want a good effect from hammer curls u should go to youtube and search "victor costa bicep workout" and watch his method of following regular standing curls with hammer curls.

I have done hammer curls for years to help lengthen my biceps.
Now I do them at the bottom of all dumbbell curling movements before twisting my thumbs out at the top.

yea me too Dadawg. guess all these guys are gettin old since they are complaining about elblow probs...maybe yall should up the deca dosage ;) jk fellas

Hammers stress the elbows ? Hummm !
I don't see it as being undue stress, but ...
I swap between hammers and concentrations curls .
For tri's french press with the H- bar and swap with kick backs.

i think everyones body is different and the secret to long term success is to listen to what your body is telling you.

i fought shoulder problems for years trying to bench conventional and finally gave up and started benching reverse grip. my shoulders quit hurting and the only negative to reverse grip benching is some funny looks at the gym lol.

reverse grip bench that must be alot harder to do then regular grip bench?

not really , it just takes getting used to.there have been bench presses over 700 pounds in competition useing reverse grip.

they do hit more of the outer portion of the bis but they also work the forearm. I do hammers rarely. normally i just grip the weight with my thumb and pinky.

What he said.

I HAVE to warm up with rotator cuff rehab exercises before I do any upper body work or I can finish the workout.
