I posted this at WCBB too but wanted to get other views.
My son will turn 12 in January and has expressed interest in some of the weight machines and really likes the treadmills. During PE at his school they have done a few weight sessions.
Any opinions on starting this young? I don't feel it is too young as long as the weights are very light for high reps. I started some body weight things and medicine balls when I was 13 and I turned out okay. Well......
He will be required to take a fitness area orientation for the gym before he can even go up there.(he is signed up) What do you think is a decent routine? Full body once or twice a week? I was thinking just run him through the machines for a few years until the boys drop but have him come spot me on the free weights to get a flavor for that.
Anything would be better then the all day video game sessions.
