There are websites that blame "Satanism" for everything. There is one website where some bible beater actually claims that Chris Angel (the magician who has the show mindfreak) is able to perform such "magic" because he is powered by the Devil himself. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.
Funny thing is, 99% of Satanists don't believe in Satan. LaVeyan Satanism (aka the Church of Satan started by Anton LaVey) is nothing more than Atheism with dogma attached, and the reason for this is that LaVey believed that people needed dogma and fantasy to enrich their life (not my opinion, but its a free country.) People who actually are devil worshipers (properly known as Theistic Satanists) are so few and far between that they aren't relevant really. They call themselves the "order of the ninth path," and it looks like those fucktards actually make the shit up as they go along. If you want a good laugh go to their website, it looks like a retard on mescaline designed it. They claim to have 14000 (approximately) members worldwide, but their claims are believed to be false. I talked to a warlock of the Church of Satan about "Devil Worshipers" and I could feel the blood boiling in his text. They hate the "Devil Worshipers" about as much as the Christians do, and for obvious reasons. The Devil worshipers are the ones that commit crimes "in the name of Satan" and to COS members that is just as bad as any crimes committed in the name of religion, not to mention that most people don't know much about either and place them both in the same group.
It makes no logical sense, if you believe in God and the Devil, why would you worship the least powerful and evil one of the two? No intelligent person would do that.
While I know you would disagree with him, LaVey's The Satanic Bible is actually a pretty good read. There are a bunch of rituals and other bullshit towards the end that I skipped, but he makes some valid points about a lot of things. Either way it is a short enjoyable read.

he refers to it as Humanism actually.. "Satan" is the stereotypical figure for "sins" and anyone that grew up catholic like myself knows that anything that you want to do is basically a sin lol LaVey promotes doing what makes you happy as long as it does not involve or infridge upon a nonwilling participant..
all the Lavey books ar pretty good reads but eventually his narcasism is so great that you cannot even pretend that hes just confident. I am fairly confident he would have named himself a god if he didnt think it would shake the foundation too much.
