Shopped haha? Now this is one pic I have never seen. Mike's arms dwarfing Arnold, and only one year later Arnold's arms was dwarfing his at the '80 O. Arnold was the ultimate responder - Levrone has nothing on him!

Note the protruding gut on Mike. Can't think of anyone else from that era with that look. Couple theories I have:

1 - I've read that he was really interested in Tim Belknaps use of slin (who was a diabetic). Did Mike find out early on that slin was anabolic and use it himself?

2 - He trained abs the same as other bdpts - he did low reps utilizing extra weight (other than bdwt). So, he built very thick abs hence that look.

Crazy thing is, he had a helluva vacuum when he wanted, ie his fdb, his abs & thigh shot with both arms up he hit a fantastic vacuum.

Thoughts/ideas on the Mentzer gut?

The first time I seen footage/pics of the '80 O years ago, the most obvious thing that jumped out at me was how Arnold DWARFED everyone regarding width. Actually, this pic doesn't do justice compared to most others as how much wider he was than everybody. He made everyone look like children. Menzter always was a relatively narrow guy, and Arnold expolited that bigtime. Imagine had he been on that stage in his shape from '74 haha - it would have been laughable! GOAT! :igok:
 
I didn't know Ray died two days after Mike! Wow, how did I not know that?

This w the best pic I could find of the two together, but I agree Arnolds width was leaps over the other IMO as well. I was in the AirForce in California at the time and wish I'd went down to southern Cali to see all those guys. I was about 130 lbs then and woulda made them lauch lol
