50k a year and broke,jeez

I have a good friend i train with,he's 30 years old.He has a job that pays him 50k yr.His wife works at a tanning parlor part time,they have a 2 year old daughter.

He said after all the bills,rent,health ins.,food,gas,etc,they are totally broke.Every month is a struggle for them,just to cover the bills.He has tried to find better jobs for yrs with no luck.

When I was younger a long time ago,50k a year was huge.And if you wanted another job it took days not years to find one.Young people with great educations,have a hard time finding a job,let alone getting one that pays enough to get ahead.

I don't think the future is real bright for the youth of today.My girl is 14 years old.My best friend is the owner of a multi billion dollar tech firm in Mountain View.She will have a bright future,with my friends Co.For others that do not have some kind of a connection,the future is dim,imo.
 
Wait until mid-july. Things are supposed to get worse. We'll see.
 
I make excellent coin , my Ol lady stays home and takes care of the kids and the house and were still broke . Its life. Its the way it is and I agree....Its only gonna get worse.
I have expensive toys and hobbies so that takes alot of it .

I think your right.

My income is pretty good too,got a few toys that's about it.5k in retirement isn't going to get me to far.
 
My children beat me up and take my money every morning. No I'm serious.

I guess I live pretty modestly on alot more than that and don't know how people do it.
 
Yeah I'm with D I make a purty good living. I just don't have a real crazy lifestyle. The kids never want for anything. I just like wearing the same old shit and being a cheap ass.
 
I wonder is it really about how much a person makes or what they do with what they make. I know a few $500k+ people a year that if they lost their job tomorrow would be fucked in a couple months without work.
 
Gurantee if he made 60, 70 or 80 he would still be broke. That's what I noticed with myself the more money I made the more I spent. I was never raised well in finances

I think you are right to a point, but California is way expensive. I consider myself kind of mid to lower middle class and I'm like Ozzy, I'm a cheap ass and I don't buy anything really, other than the essentials. I am a saver though, I hate spending if I can help it.

That's exactly it!!! Some guys don't get it when it comes to money. If a hobby or a toy makes you struggle to pay bills then it's more of a liability then anything.

I don't buy much that I can't pay cash for. What if you lose your job Monday or you get hurt in a car crash? Most guys will lose everything so where did the toys and shit get you? Homeless and starving.

Our world is fucked up because of shows like mtv cribs where we see people buying things they don't need just to show off.

Have I struggled in the past, your damn right I have. But the older I got the wiser I got.

Very true, it's not what you make it's what you spend. Now there's limits to even that statement. Cost of living is going up it's crazy, gas, food, going to the movies...etc.

My advice, move to the country or somewhere with lower cost of living and find a career where you can work remotely.
 
I know I know... reviving an old thread... But I'm doing so because it is relevant!

Sadly, your buddy is just over the income bracket level that see's him paying enough in taxes to really bite into what's left after he pays the state and federal masters.

We're fairly fortunate to earn a good living thanks to being in a deep niche in the IT market. What that has done however is put me into a tax bracket that is getting soaked. The more you earn, the more you have taken from you at the threat of prison if you refuse.

And like many have said, it is only going to get worse. What most people do not realize is that if we keep allowing ourselves to be taxed at the rates that are current, everyone will lose because it will crush the economy. When people are finally tired enough of having commissions and bonuses taxed at 48% (while receiving no value from that tax), and having pay checks taxed at over 50% after all taxes and government fee's are accounted for, then we will make progress.

Sorry to hear about your buddy. But until everyone works together to drop the cost of government, we're all going to pay the price.
 
I make more than double that, my wife makes another small pile and we are a bit stretched. Families tend to spend everything here in the states. Doesn't help that the government, banks, insurance companies, drug companies etc are robbing us. Not sure of the average but I think it's around 80k that a new college grad oues in loans before he lands a job. Tough to get ahead. Most guys I know with money stayed single and made their money at the edge of legit. Really really hard to get even modestly wealthy going legit sorry to say.
 
Let's get all the meat heads together and take our government back! I would run for Prez but I'v been in and out of prison so many times I'm not able.

I don't know about you guys but every woman I have ever known bar maybe one or 2 has the ability to spend every dime they come in contact with.
