I am a pipe-fitter .
I usually am under big excavators all day long (If you know anything about these machines , Komatsu PC400 and PC600)
Yesterday , a fellow pipe-layer just got done setting a man-hole in the ground . He was in the hole lining up the excavator for the next ditch . The operator started to dig , and when he did , his bucket fell off the machine , and fell in the hole crushing him against the manhole .
They got a pulse when the FireDept. arrived , and got picked up in a life-line chopper , but lost him in the air .
He was not a lifter , but an ex-Marine , and a gun enthusiast . He was also a dad of 2 and a Foster Dad to many ..
It scared the hell out of me , knowing that I always take working around these big machines for granted . It makes me take a step back , and be glad for the things/people around me.
Please , keep his family in your prayers...
Thanks all...
